Haitani was falling a bit behind. The captain then gave him some motivations. But welp the manga is dead last on the toc this week. The initial toc placements were low before this. It's pretty much over for Embers unless some miracle happens.

Still a boring as fuck match as always, but seems like the author had some effort to make me care about the MC... too late to save it btw.

I'll feel bad for the artist if this gets axed

This was epic, Haitani had to come to grips that he's still relatively new and is still learning his spot in the team as well as his strengths and weaknesses. Adding in him ruminating about those who spoke illy of him in the past during his moment self-doubt before being reaffirmed by Kaoru was an excellent touch in giving the guy some emotional depth beyond being the OP lunkhead we're all rooting for. Excellent chapter, excited to see how he's able to take down the bald dude with his current mindset and his teammates in the next chapter.

This was better than the last few chapters. Overall I liked it but there are still some issues in having with this series. Haitani has been playing soccer since his 3rd year of middle school, so why is he still so incompetent? He's even been practicing on the A-team for a few weeks preparing for this game. The author makes it feel like this is only his second real match. He knows that dribbling and trapping aren't his strong points why aren't they working on these things in practice? Again a much stronger chapter than the previous few but far from being amazing.

I agree, I love he didn't suddenly become an amazing play just because of the 2-week timeskip. It was a fantastic chapter overall, I can't wait for next week's.

Proganoist can't give his best in the first match then captain/best player teaches him lesson.
