It's back. The food is back, as well as the mystery stories. Got new characters making an appearance too as a couple.

It doesn't look like Yuki or Kobato changed much yet from the previous season. Kengo is still Kengo but can feel the tense mood in this episode already. The talk about newspaper change sounds like a preference thing. Nothing too thrilling yet but I'm glad to see the show back.

Well, that crash course of “101 ways of how to kidnap yourself and blame others”, we went through last season, really did change things between our main guys drastically, didn’t they? As you see, Osanai is already feeling at home with this new guy, to the point where it feels like this new guy has replaced the very existence of Kobato from this series lol. Don’t care enough about whatever that guy might be writing for the stuff which isn’t even happening at the school, but yeah, looking at the history of this series, something something will lead us to SOMETHING major, so looking forward to that.

If anything, I’m kinda missing the interactions between Kobato and Osanai, I mean it was that particular bit which made this series a bit enjoyable to me. The focus over new characters is fine and all, but I just don’t want it to eat half of the season or something. Anyway, the stuff with those cases around arson and where the next thing can/will happen is a bit interesting, but yeah let’s see. They went hard with the OP and ED btw.

Not even a full year break, but we're back, and now having watched Hyouka, I really want to see how much better this is compared to it. And to kick it off, just like last time, the OP... and yes, once again, this shit bangs, along with the visuals.

But to the main show itself, and yep, still as gorgeous as ever. Picked up right where we left off, with Osanai finding herself a replacement Jougorou in this redhead.... Replacement as in, THEY ARE FUCKING DATING LMAO. Oh but don't let that fool you into thinking that she's the only one that moved on IMMEDIATELY, because Jougorou ALSO got himself a partner... who's very adamant on calling bro "Joe"... uh okay xD

But yeah, that ending, right where we technically left off last season, with the RV or whatever on fire, arson essentially, which, if it wasn't obvious, will probably bring our two protagonist's groups together to solve this case... because yeah. Just thankful that we got a serious case on our hands for once and NOT one that has to deal with sweets like every single on in season one was lmaooo.

Great return man, always a pleasure to watch this. Will enjoy these next ten weeks very dearly.

Novelist Honobu Yonezawa's Shoushimin Series is back from last Summer to adapt its remaining volumes, and also to bring about the mystery elements once again.

Yorushika's OP is subtle yet good, as is Nagi Yanagi's ED.

Going into Volume 3 of the novel (The Case of the Autumn-time Limited-Edition Candied Chestnuts and Sweet Potatoes), it's nice to see Yuki Osanai once again, but this time, she's paired with the newest member of the Newspaper Club: 1st Year student Takahiko Urino (alongside his good friend of Yuki Hiya), where Dojima assumes his presidentship for yet another member of Kimiya Itsukaichi to propose a new section for the Funado Monthly newspaper in school. Meanwhile, Jogoro having a date with the girl that asked him out back in Season 1, Tokiko Nakamaru is quite the fun one to be with.

Of course, Urino assumes leadership in the stories he wants to concoct, but Dojima stopping and warning him about the newspaper article that he wants to focus on: fire safety, it warrants concern. Urino asking his classmate of Satomura about her gardening activities, which caught fire in the patch that her family owns, and that mystery expanded to a single hammer gone missing, to a case of arson, and with the help of Hiya, he needs all the information he could get his hands on. With all of the data taken and a deep analysis, it's still not enough to solve the case...until a fire truck that directs from Ueno caught his eye.

Season 1's cliffhanger is starting to make some sense, though this is only the beginning of woes.

More mysteries on the loose, and the hunt for the culprits will be monumental once again.

Peak detective series is back let’s go! That year went by very quickly, excited to see what my fave detective duo who will NEVER be ordinary cook up this season.

Yorushika ate with the OP and the visuals are so good. 2/2 OPs.

It feels so weird seeing Kobato and Osanai hanging out with other people after how close they were in the first cour, but I do think it’s for the best because of that co-dependency that had started developing. Osanai was also wrong for how she set that kidnapping shit up and manipulated everyone, so I don’t blame Kobato for not wanting anything to do with that.

Urino seems like a cool fella, different sort of guy from Kobato. Seems very motivated and driven, but I’m worried Osanai is using him as well. The fires are totally being started by her aren’t they? But why? What’s she planning? Hopefully he doesn’t get hurt in the process

Idk how to feel about Kobato new girl. She’s cute and all, but she’s sooo different from osanai. Kinda gives gyaru and trendy vibes.. I do think that’s the sort of person Kobato needs to be around to develop socially and grow. He and osanai were way too similar and hampered the other’s growth. Maybe I’ll be wrong tho lol

Excited to see how this fire case turns out. Is osanai going full villain arc? After the end of the first cour nothing surprises me too much lol. Good first ep.

I feel like I'm going to love this season. We weren't kept in the dark about the "true side" of this series until the end of the last season, but now we know, the tension already feels higher than before. Banger OP as usual and I love the direction choices in it too. Monogatori vibes in a way.

Welcome back Shoshimin Saturdays!

Osanai singing about pudding while the van is burning... is this some kind of Nero's Great Fire reference?! (probably not but an amusing possibility nonetheless)

She's up to something "un-ordinary" again and Kobato caught in it one more time.

It seems Osanai and Kobato have started to enjoy their lives without each other’s company rather well.

The episode mostly focused on Urino and his not-yet-shipped relationship with Osanai—he honestly felt like the actual MC of the show, lol.

Meanwhile, that small moment between Nakamaru and Kobato was just adorable. They’re such a cute couple with great humor. I’d love to see her get more screentime, but she doesn’t really give off detective vibes, so I kinda doubt she’ll be too involved going forward.

This first episode really caught me off guard! I thought we’d go straight back to the main couple from season 1, but instead we got completely new characters and a totally different vibe — I’m definitely intrigued. Hiya definitely gives off some suspicious vibes — that café scene with Urino felt really off. But Osanai’s look at the end? That was chilling, she’s clearly scheming something.

I liked how the episode balanced mystery and subtle clues. You can already feel the psychological game between the characters is going to be even more intense this time. I’m excited to see how these ‘new pieces’ will fit into the board.

I was very happy to see this one coming back so soon. the visuals are an absolute delight, and I love the melancholic, but striking expressions that each character can make. that's kind of the thing with a lot of mystery anime, is that they don't do facial subtleties very well, especially when those can be critical hints for later.
I do miss the old Jou/Osanai relationship, but it looks like the new characters will be standing out strong on their own, so I'm optimistic. seems like jou is pretty happy with the new girl, but definitely still has moments. Osanai looks like the usual schemer she is, and I'm sure she's leading this poor kid like a moth to a flame.

calling it right now; I think the red-haired kid's friend is the likely culprit, with Osanai pulling the strings. just a guess, but it seems suspicious that kid knew exactly where to look at that first spot, or he's trying to lead him off track. he also started acting weird when they were investigating. just a hunch tho. I'm excited for this new season.

I dont buy this bs that osanai choose another guy than kobato, cuz with Kobato she had best chemistry and they both are puzzle brains. But this is okay too cuz it gives anime a bit more misterious vibe and drama. Kinda interesting.

I could think of two reasons: to help Urino, as you said, and/or to lure Jougorou out. At least, she was definitely plotting something.

Honestly, with how season 1 ended, I tend to think it's more to lure Kobato-kun to resolve it like last time, she was thrilled to see her last plan being revealed by him so I wouldn't be surprised if all this was just to make him solve another one for her own happiness...
This girl is truly scary

The OP is going to probably be one of the best ones of this year, and the ending is great, too!

Hiya and Osanai are already suspicious, probably working together toward some sort of goal. (erasing evidence of the kidnapping and luring Kobato out...)

And we’re back with "How to Become Ordinary". Unlike the first season, this one already gives us clearer hints about Yuki’s true nature. It’s impossible not to suspect she’s somehow involved in everything that’s going on, especially after that ending. The opening song also stands out — I really liked it!

Man, that opening was beautiful. And sneaking in Yorushika’s logo went really hard lol. And as always the animation is so detailed and smooth.

Although I was sad that they “broke up”, I’m really enjoying the dynamic they have with their new partners.

Spoilers for the end of the episode…

Also I wonder how the these acts of arson are connected with the whole kidnapping fiasco in the S1 finale. Or maybe someone is using these acts of arson as an excuse ti get rid of that van…

Still don’t like that they split the main characters to be with other characters.

Granted they weren’t dating, but they were close, until it was over. This’d feel like splitting up Oreki and Chitanda from Hyouka, just so they wouldn’t have to do romance between them, then they introduce other characters to take their place (I know this isn’t a romance series but it felt like that’s how it would’ve gone with the way their relationship was until they broke their partnership off)

Though in Osasnai’s case, it feels like she’s just using the new guy too.

It's great to have this show back. I love mystery anime like this where you're forced to be attentive to details, foreshadowing and really have to question what to take at face value or not. Hiya felt mad suspicious to me this episode, maybe it's an obvious red herring? Either way excited to see what the overarching plot of this season is gonna be. Sure hope it has plenty of surprises like S1 did.

There also the character dynamics and how they'll evolve over the series.
The current tensions between Urino and Kengo
Urino and Hiya's friendship
Kobato and the new girls relationship.
Osanai and her lies and schemes in regards to Urino's dream of wanting to leave his mark
Kobato and Osanai current status quo if they even interact before this season ends

As always, the usual absolute beauty of an ending. That aside, masterpiece of a prologue with that illegal cliffhanger, might the arsonist actually be Yuki? I mean, she DID say she's supporting Takahiko, but i never realized she actually meant it in a LITERAL way, but actually firebombing to provide more data for him to work on, guess our snake is back in action, and not in a good way, i fear you going to juvie one day young lady, keep your insanity under control, otherwise, your idea of fun which is equal to insanity is gonna blow up in your face one day, and i fear for you cuz you're cute and all, don't waste it all away. Nonetheless, i'm merely speaking based on my own pointlessly meaningless assumption, for all i know, she ain't the culprit at all & i'm just yapping.

That aside, sad to see that both of our MCs have moved on by the wolf using Takahiko while the fox uses Tokiko for joy. I'm saddened by that, they said they were gonna keep each other under control, and they tried, but it never worked out, and now they're wreaking havoc. At least one is, who's the wolf, the fox is still playing good for now. We haven't seen anything of him except being a hypothetic witness to the wolf's arson. Will our characters connect indirectly somehow? Will Takahiko be able to actually seize the opportunity & do it all by himself? Hope we get all our answers in the upcoming episodes.

Went back to watch Season 1 episodes 9 & 10, right after watching this episode. Really enjoyed the vibes of this initial episode, even though it spent most of the time focused on the red-head kid. Totally forgot HOW manipulating Yuki is until I rewatched the old episodes. Beautiful scenic shots throughout. Really looking forward to how this story plays out with Jougo now knowing Yuki's true nature. I totally suspect that Yuki is manipulating the situation again, but this time to directly challenge Jougo. Bring on Season 2!

The OP and ED have beautiful visuals and are quite calm and good.
Also, we see that Jogoro now hangs out with Tokiko while Osanai hangs out with Urino.
I don't wanna believe that the one behind the arsons is Yuki though.

It's so weird to watch Kobato and Osanai getting separated, but at least the anime have more characters to focus on right now.
About the incident, Hiya gives off suspicious vibes. But I think Osanai is the master mind behind it.

The Shoushimin series is back! And with a great OP and ED too. I really missed Kobato and that demon in human form, Osanai. What a great start to the season.

Even though their friendship has ended, they both seem to be doing pretty well with their new circles as they keep trying to live a normal life. The girl Kobato is dating is very nice to him and seems to enjoy his company. At least now that he's no longer with Osanai, his chances of getting diabetes from so much candy have decreased 😂

Urino is basically the opposite of Kobato: he wants to make a mark and be recognized for his efforts. And having Osanai help him with that? It's definitely an odd combination and a bit creepy, especially with the fire incidents getting darker and more intense. I don't think Osanai is the arsonist... but considering he put his goons in jail and almost got revenge on someone who threw the cake at him.... It's very suspicious😅

I wasn't a big fan of the first season overall, but this Season 2 premiere pulled me back in.

It's got that mysterious atmosphere that's hard to resist, and the visuals and the direction are excellent.

It's a good change that they split up the main duo and added in some characters. Osanai and Kobato are put in new surroundings, and we get a break from their bizarre dynamic and conversations. It's nice to hear normal people talk normally for a change.

Looking forward to this arc. Thanks to a certain Korean movie, I'm already very uncomfortable watching things burn in the countryside in Asia. Especially greenhouses...

Tthe first episode was a good introduction for the second season. The visuals of the opening and ending were very nice. But i kind of was missing the Kobato screentime, we only got to see the Osanai and her friend, which i found a bit critical. Still, Kobatos average appearing added to his becoming ordinary.
Other than that, the soundtrack is really nice. There are less of those split location screens during the talking, which i miss as well

Nonetheless it was a nice episode

Our favorite devil incarnate is back! And holy shit that new OP, not only is it Yorushika, the visuals also went crazy.

Did bro Urino just laugh while Osanai's dessert is falling apart? Oh dear.

Hiya seems sus as fuck. Also, bicycle being set on fire? I wonder if it's the same bicycle of Osanai from last season.

Don't tell me Osanai is the arsonist, giving Urino a scoop while also destroying evidence, 2 birds with 1 stone kind of deal. We know she's more than capable of that, but could also be a red herring. It's also possible Osanai only ordered someone directly or indirectly, maybe someone whose name is synonymous with hello, but one way or another, Osanai is definitely involved, cause of the van and possibly bike.

Honestly, Kobato and Tokiko looks cute together, but we know how this will go.

Osanai gleefully saying pudding is scaring me bro.

But Kengo, we ain't forget.
