Never with the low sales of season 1. We only got a second season because it was double cour from the get go. It's why the second season was announced in the last episode of season 1.

My speculation is that having so main characters would become too difficult to give each of them enough screen time without screwing up the pacing.

with how good season 2 was I think there is no doubt we are getting season 3. Especially those last 2 episodes were true masterpiece. This is peak romcom, keeps getting better each season, love how they focused on best girl Karane at the end, made me emotional even.

@hudanrais BD sales really matter, Rent a GF just has low adaptational demands and extremely high manga sales

The manga sure sold like crazy and they did make 11 new songs.

So the odds are quite high that a S3 will happen.

I mean with your logic, Konosuba shouldnt be getting new seasons as im sure BDs sales arent that high for it.

Plus if its not till '27, then so be it.

That just means hopefully it'll be all the better as it wouldnt be rushed.

Btw, since I ended up doing more replies than intended in this thread, let's just give some hope too... After all I like the manga and want to see certain girls animated.

You might already know this, but a 100gf gacha has released recently. So I can see them wanting some revenue for future content. Understandable, for they are using high demand seiyuus in full capacity and the quality of adaptation is also pretty good.

I explicitly mentioned the BD because of the sales pitch - apparently the full Rentaro monologue will be present in the BD version.

Counterpoint? Well BD is kinda becoming less as less popular as a medium of enjoyment in current times. So people are trying to cope and rely less on BD revenue.

And the crew behind the show have shown a lot of passion, so they won't say "no" to future episodes on being given the green flag from the production overlords.

Look in this order: (1) BD sales (includes character songs), (2) Game revenue, (3) Merch sales, (4) Manga sales, (5) Domestic adaptational demand [Before S1 aired, this was in top 5 desired adaptation in Japan]

So all the best, meanwhile god knows what'll happen with projects like Komi san and Sleepy Princess...

Seriously needs another season. This is the funniest romcom I've ever watched. Actually one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time.
