The FMA dub is legendary for a reason, but I'm sure the sub is also excellent.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

The FMA dub is great and I've never watched the original Japanese aside from some clips. Unfortunately, most of the Japanese actors really struggle to say the name "Alphonse." Lots of difficult European and German names in the series.

I think the English dub is honestly way better for FMAB because it is overall more consistent across the entire franchise than the Japanese version. I really like the Japanese cast, but most of them are not the same as the actors from the 2003 show with a small potion of the original cast returning. Meanwhile in the English version, almost the entire cast reprises their original roles, with the only major recast being Alphonse due to Aaron Dismuke's voice changing between the production of both shows. If you plan on getting really into the franchise as a whole, watching the dub is just overall the most consistent option and the dub is really high quality anyway so it's worth watching

yeah, and in the Japanese dub they struggle in pronouncing the names in the Japanese accent for example I'm still confuse how they pronounce Alphonse's nameπŸ˜… yeah some people probably like it or find it funny but it feels weird to me when they pronounce English names like that.

With this logic you should be watching it in German not English, since it’s set in alternate universe Germany

well, if I watch it in German dub I'd still need subtitles which would be a pain so no thanks 😐 and I guess German people speaking English feels less weird than German people speaking Japanese don't you think? and is the German dub is even as good as the English one?

both are mid, only millenial ahh uncs hype up this slop.
trust me, save your time.
the dub is theater kid shit btw. these people simply grew up on it and are nostalgic about it.
ever wonder why these people all coincidentally happen to "find" the "one good dub" for an anime they watched in their youth?

@tanjim_ahsan16 the german dub is better than the english one. unless you are like a gay theater kid or something you won't like the english dub. this anime is one of those femxle target audience anime and the english dub really reflects that. im not defending the original japanese either btw.
and this isn't nostalgia or bias, it was my third anime and i tried rewatching it again recently.

you're confusing bro πŸ˜‘. I personally think the dub and the anime is amazing and I believe it's also true for the majority so nahh I don't agree with you. and for the "gay theatre kid part" firstly I didn't get what the heck you meant and secondly I'm "straight" thank you very much. 😐

I have a small inkling that most people in this comment section(not all af them) are saying sub or dub cause that's the only one they watched. I'm not saying ignore what they are saying, cause it's true that the dub is incredible, but I've watched this show a few times in dub as a kid, and a few in sub as I've grown able to read subtitles. In my opinion, I would say start with sub. while yeah the dub is great, and they butcher names sometimes, simply the emotion that the actors convey in the sub is way better. for this show, it's a really tight race between the sub and the dub, but it honestly comes down to your preferences and what you're used to when watching subbed anime.

@Killjoy_Kora this is pure closeted cope. Haikyuu for example has a 99% femxle fanbase. Shounen magazines are like 2000 times bigger than shoujo ones so a household can easily be placated by 1 of them. They are so succesful they can hire femxle writers such as with Demon Slayer or Fullmetal Alchemist. A mxle shoujo writer is rare unless he's gay non binary. And no nothing you give as an example for shouno is relevant because of how small the scale of shoujo is. There is volume but no consolidation. Adaptations of shoujo are mostly dramas aimed at a 100% femxle audience. Mxn in that "shounen" age range have moved on from battle shounen by middle school. But, for example Bleach with it's cast of 30 bishounen guys falls onto a teen girl and older audience. It's why Gintama was so popular despite being nonsense with no plot for years, purely because of Gintoki, Katsura, & the Shinsengumi's character design.
Attractive mxle characters being in a story with a bunch of other attractive guys is what modern shounen is built on. To the level that they can be shipped. We are long past the days of Fist of the North Star, City Hunter, & Dragonball. Just look at Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as an example.
Now we have Kagurabachi, My Hero Academia, Haikyuu, Junutsu Kaisen, Kuroko Basketball, and so on.
Even with the Hunter X Hunter remake it was a femxle audience shipping gon & killua/hisoka rather than mxn getting back into it.
It's why Kusuriya is a "seinen" but is a femxle power fantasy for womxn readers. Same with Witch Hat Atelier.

Black Butler is a Shounen.
Prince of Tennis is a Shounen.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a Shounen.
AND SO ON.

The only Shounen that are actually aimed at boys air on Sunday during the baby block ie for Japanese mxle toddlers.
That is One Piece, Dragonball, & Kodomo anime.

Have you never checked a gendered survey of shounen jump for example?
This is like saying majou shoujo is akshually for girls when the price of character merch is something that only adult males with jobs could afford. IE Cardcaptor Sakura & Precure.
