Anekakoji may have the joke of a life alongside Iroha, but at least to Hajime which he guard-dutied him the other day before his death at the hands of Tanaka Shinbei the Killer, all while Nio is still suffering the postmortem of Nagi's death. Still, the encouragement to Nio that he didn't do much, the outcome is rather the opposite.

Iemochi still acting like a kid when the Choshu domain is udner his ass, he's now becoming more worried. But as the Miburo finally getting their new uniforms and reinstate themselves as the Shinsengumi, there's no doubt that Kyoto will remain safe under their loyalty.

The show is alright as educational material, but for everything else, you're better off with the likes of Rurouni Kenshin.

The Miburo looked great in their new uniforms and now it looks like Kyoto will be more safe now that they have decided to stay. I enjoyed this series and am glad to see that it is getting a second season.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long, and it did NOT disappoint! The new haori looked absolutely sick. The design, the colors, the way they made the entire group look more unified—it was everything I hoped for. It really made them feel more like the legendary force they’re meant to be.

This episode was already building up to something, but seeing them in this fresh look just hit differently.

Hajime fought tirelessly to protect Anegakoji with his life, but sadly, he was ultimately killed by assassins. Fueled by the flames of revenge, he set out to capture those responsible. By working with the authorities, he managed to apprehend Shinbei, the killer.

Meanwhile, Nio continued to struggle with Nagi’s loss, but with the support and care of the Miburo members, he found the strength to move forward and grow even stronger.

They really tried to make it seem like Hajime and Iroha would make a good couple—not that I’d complain. It was about time for the coats to be ready, but we didn’t get to see the Miburo wearing them much.

For someone who isn’t from Japan and doesn’t know their history, the historical drama was still fun to watch.

I am glad that Nio decided to change as a person and be even stronger than before, since we didn’t see any character development in this anime.

Anegakoji is an interesting character, as well as Lord Iemochi, full of authority.

Really strong finale, love Nio's chara dev and the new suits look insane, really hyped me for s2

Overall a decent show with its up and down but i still think it deserves a better general rating, atleast we got to +6.50 with this last episode and that's better than nothing

Maho Film totally underdelivered with this Cheap Adaptation with a lot of the Action Animations looking very barebones and visually boring with 0 priority episodes in the action heavy segments and the shortcuts are painfully noticeable
Most of the Cast is not that interesting
Feels like what they adapted in Cour 1 was Set up and Cour 2 was an okay story arc but the Worldbuilding was really lacking unless you know Japanese history around this period

The music try to hype the final scene as much as possible but I still think this is not a good part to end the season. With that said, I'll watch season 2.

Does anyone notice if Taro has his own sword or not? I want him to be more than just a housekeeper.

I have to admit that I found many parts of this anime boring, but the second cour changed that around as it was more engaging. The finale itself is good in my opinion but a lot of the anime isn't.

I still believe that this could've been a lot better, and with the second season being announced, I hope it's more like the second cour.

@XArceusX I've learned this history. If you even watch Kenshin, you will learn their fate. It's not good. Still, seen as the last of the Samurai these guys appear in a lot of Period Anime'.

I enjoyed this series the points of view and politics of the time even though it lacked in samurai swordplay.
Moving forward to season 2.

Lots of stories and anime have been made about this era and this group in particular. And by far this anime version was the most boring.

Lots of standing, talking, one note characters, no real action. Not interesting at all.

I didn't like this anime nor did I hate it. It was the definition of meh and boring. 5/10.

huh? Fujita???? Is this who Saitō Hajime gets his later alias from?

It's so-so. Some characters were fun, the action lackluster. For historicity, it's more realistic than RuroKen (meant to be historical fiction) but with fabricated POV character Nio and the whole mess about Saitō Hajime's identity, it's not a documentary, either.

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022
