I like how Akiyama managed to get everything together along with the team. It's impressive with the amount of pressure as he's in charge of the scripts.

Obviously, this was a group effort so seeing it come together as a group is admiring. This is the type of project where everyone contributed and played like a team.

Oh we're actors now? Welcome back Act Age lol. Akiyama's script is pretty clearly an analogy for he and his sister's story. It's sort of a cry for help with him wanting someone to save him from the predetermined career his parents have chosen for him, as well as regretting not being there for his sister when she was arguing with them over her future. I did not expect the twist with Saionji not being Akiayama sister. We were all so convinced last week. They really had us going there last week, fair play. Nice twist. Even with his sister being a poet though, there is still no reason for the parents to act like that.

It makes sense Hana is an amazing actress. Reading broadcasts is essentially just acting anyway, but wow she has Aqua level talent lol. The way she can switch it on and off is wild. I dig the method acting approach An came up with as well, Hana looks adorable with her French Braid! And glasses An is so pretty!

Love the convo with Akiyama and his sister. I thought that "I felt betrayed but I also felt bad I didn’t stand up for you." was so real. Again, really no one's fault but their parents. Being a poet is dope. And her design is so pretty!

Now I'm wondering who tf is Saionji sister.. surely not Hana, right? They like being sneaky with these cuts.

Good thing Hana asked if other schools were known for their broadcasting clubs being good because all of this is new to me, so hearing there's perenial champions in this sport is interesting. I am really looking forward to the joint practice now! Good episode as per.

So ... Shura the genius lady is not an older sister of Akiyama, but his older sister works with her ... and Shura the genius lady is actually an older sister of Natsue ? This is getting more interesting by the episode.

wow... Matsuyuki's sister isn't Saionji Shura. It was quite a good bait about this point from the previous episode.
tbh, this appearance is better than her usual one.

Last week y'all got baited and "confirmed" that Saionji is Akiyama's sister. This week y'all say she's related to Natsue for no apparent reason. What's next???

Ok so his older sister isn't Shura but his older sister is a poet that works with Shura. We also learn that she has a little sister and she might be someone we knows older sister? Also idk why I see some people think Natsue if someone is a candidate it has to be somehow Hana right?

Hmm I don’t understand how so many people think Shura is Natsue older sister, it doesn’t really make sense to me. Hana seems as more of the obvious choice but i’m not sure if Hana is though, after last weeks bait, but those mirroring camera shots do clearly point towards Hana being Shura’s imouto.

@kyou_on meanwhile on Reddit people now think she is Hanas or Mizukis sister.

Hana is incredibly talented and is also a great actress, so much so that she made Matsuyuki drop his efficiency-first attitude. I loved how Matsuyuki went off-script and spoke from the heart since the story was about his sister. Telling her that she's a genius was the only way he could truly support her even though he didn't do it at the time it's clear that his sister values him a lot.

I felt like that 🤡 when it turned out that Saionji wasn't Matsuyuki's sister. But who was he referring to when he said he had something like a sister?

I was fully expecting Hana to just flub her lines completely and for the episode to focus on her overcoming a crippling bout of stage fright, I'm kind of surprised it wasn't like that.

Yeah I also got baited from the last episode but Matsuyuki's sister is a poet that works with Shura so the guess was still somewhat close. Regarding who Shura's younger sister could be, at this point I have no idea but it was implied that it could be Hana, we'll see.

Hana's recitation on the beach was the best performance for me so far.

Matsuyuki listening to the poem he wrote with his sister who went away, read so beautifully in Hana's voice, was genuinely moving. The line "that's why I choose this" almost gave me goosebumps. Matsuyuki becoming spellbound and going off-script was also amazing.

I think that's what's been missing in a lot of the recitation scenes; personal meaning.

The other performance that left an impression on me was Hana and Mizuki in the bathtub, visualized by the starry skies. That performance was also a special moment for the characters. Often the recitations are just nice poetry that the characters happen to like.

Looking forward to more like this, including Saionji's performance next week.

Looks like I got baited hard about Saionji being related to Akiyama. It was a nice move to convince us of that and then pull of this twist to catch us off-guard. XD

Still, his older sister does work with Saionji, so getting tickets to her performance was pretty easy. It did make for a nice little reunion with her, which he did reveal that the main reason that he's in the club was that he lied to his parents about being in a club is a requirement, not an optional thing. A rather sneaky move, but one which I'm glad that he did.

The filming for their project was very enjoyable. The subtle changes for Hana (French braid) and An (Glasses) make the pair look cuter than before, but Hana continues to surprise everyone with how good her acting skills are. During one scene, after hearing Hana recite a poem, it even spurred Akiyama on to say what he wanted instead of following the script, which did result in an even more impressive result than intended.

Who knows if Saionji is related to anyone that we know, but for now, I hope the club is ready to take note of how Saionji performs in the next episode, which will be valuable experience for all of them.

A bait-and-switch, but a very good one. Did not expect Matsuyuki’s sister to actually be the extroverted doting type. Now I do expect the actual Saionji’s “little sister” to be Hana (unless this anime is going to just full-on “sister-bait” us with Saionji).

I guess another Easter-egg is the broadcast club’s rivalry with the school band given this anime and Sound Euphonium were created by the same person.

Glad they had her read a poem again and everyone surprised by her acting was fun.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Now this was a better episode than the crap we were given earlier. I love how much Hana is getting more likable because I couldn't stand her in the past 6 episodes. I like how much she's grown because I hate the "shy I can't do it girl" trope we see so many times. This show goes from a 3/10 to a 5/10.

WOW Hana's voice actor changing her voice to fit the personality of the Tsumugi, it sounded like a complete different person. Her voice actor is Minori Fujidera and she doesn't have much of experience as an anime voice actor, only did 2 shows and they both those girly girly magic girl kids shows that i skip. she's very talented and i hope this work will nail her bigger roles in more animes, she has an amazing voice's range.

Ok so i was right about him taking the rest of the group to see the play with his sister, but i was wrong about who's his sister, i thought it was Shura, but it's a different girl, with the blue hair.

Also it's funny that the concert band is their enemy in this anime/manga, while the previous anime/manga series was about a concert band LOL

@Stark700 I don't think it was any problem for Akiyama, I think he fine. On the contrary he best to act that role because that role based on his and Tsumugi based on his sister, he also changed his lines because he feels that that's what he should have told his sister in the past, but didn't. Akiyama didn't want to play this role because he had personal struggle with it obviously because it's about his past. But he played that role because it's part of his problem he has to do what efficient to everyone, but now that act story+meeting his sister at the end gave him a closure, so hopefully now he'll be more honest with himself and break through his character development.

@Marinate1016 It was always acting, even reading lines from a poem or reciting a sentence from a book, you act like that character.
As for your other comment about broadcasting, this is a real thing in japan, there are broadcasting clubs and reciting competitions, it's very different in japan and u can't get it because it's Japanese, the way the sentence is written and how you pronounce it, can't really explain it well sorry.

@AkeZZZ i agree, it looks better on her and fits her personality, also cuter.

@YuukiTheFlash Haha, that's what i said, but sadly this is a made up fantasy country, so they don't exist there.

@Narizor 100%

@perseii It's not a poem written by his sister, the scene of his sister on the beach was real, he just lied and said it's a poem, it was just his personal past. Also, my best choice for hana acting has to be "Asura" when she screaming in the beach and it's raining and mizuki watching her. Her emotion level was so high i thought she gonna kill someone lol

@Camoboi1 you don't know what you talking about if you think the previous episodes sucked and this is a 3 or 5 out of 10 anime.

Hana is coming together too quicky imo as someone ultra talented, kind of remains me of Akebi. She can act and obviously recite, I can sort of relate to Natsue who doesn't want to lose because it looks like everyone except Salonji will lose to her. Good on Akiyama for sorting out his issues with his big sis and retaining his commitments to both his parents (no matter how much they don't deserve it) and how his sister inspired him.

I know the beach scene really happened. I was talking about the poem that Hana's character recited on the beach.

When Akiyama is handing out the script to the club members earlier, he explicitly says that his sister wrote the poems that appear in the script.

And it's clear from Akiyama's reaction during filming that the poem really was written by his sister and holds a special meaning to him. Hearing it read out loud was so moving to him that he felt compelled to say the words that he wanted to say to his sister back then, something which he basically admits to Natsue afterwards.

@perseii The script story is simply his life, he might have added that "third friend", this is why it hits differently, Akiyama was playing his own role, because it was him in the past and the reason he changed the lines at the end was because those words were what he really wanted to tell his sister that day, but didn't. This is why this episode is 10 out of 10, Akiyama relived his past story to figure out his true feelings, and then met with the sister to get a closure by telling her the truth.

IF you talking only about the poem Hana was reciting at the end of the scene, yes it could be written by her, but the sister probably recited that in front of him on the beach as well, which is why he was moved so much by it, because Hana gave him a de javu.

I'm sorry on my first reply misunderstanding you.

I am glad people are proven wrong that Sainoji isn't Matsuyuki's sister. I had feeling it might won't.
But Sainoji actually does have a sister now who is she?

Great episode Hana's acting surprising amazing, thanks to her Matsuyuki finally decides to meet her sister and they got a wholesome reunion. Her blue hair is perfect don't compalin.

Now this is what it's all about. Finally, we've gotten down to the main course and Hana has exited her bubble of shyness to bloom (get it?..) showcasing her talents to her circle. I sure hope it keeps going in that direction as it would be a shame to apply the breaks right when we've gotten up to speed... (Although already half of the series has gone by)

Also, Hana's voice actress is simply amazing for this role - the way she fits her voice in Hana's character and delivers detailed vocal expressions, stutters and great speeches has been surprising!! And for this to be one of her first official VA roles is simply lovely when looking at her vocal capabilities - it's a pleasure to hear.

So Matsuyuki's sister is not actually Shura but somebody else. Then again, when Shura mentioned that she has someone like a little sister but she doesn't acknowledge, the "camera" goes to Hana?

Perhaps there is a backstory behind that statement.

If this episode this something, it reveals that even with acting, Hana is talented. Her challenge is primarily with her lack of self-confidence.
