Sylphid! It was a refreshing episode to see Uchimura team up with her.

Felt bad for that kid Nair this episode. She doesn't deserve her role in such a way Looks like Uchimura found a solution to solve one of his problems so we'll see that soon. Sylphid and Uchimura should get more on screen time together imo. Underrated team.

The canned fish that's served is the infamously smelly, fermented, Swedish surströmming.

Interestingly, in the Ikebukuro shopping mall Sunshine City, there's a vending machine that stocks this from time to time. It's apparently owned by the Swedish Embassy and used as a form of cultural promotion.

When I heard the word "guild" I already assume it's an adventure guild, turns out it's a merchant guild, I need to improve my assumption skill.

Now tell me, who is the Overlord and his generals in this universe?
I thought it was the ruler of the lands and his "right-hands", i.e. they make the laws and run the court on those lands. And here it turns out that some asshole starts to humiliate and disrespect, and in fact they can behead him on the spot and take all the goods - there will be no punishment for this.
And in general, the whole country eats only one kind of product and there is nothing else? And how did they live before the arrival of the "Great General"? Some kind of surreal and sick fantasy of the author.

Sylphid's little Brother is pure SCUM. Using that little girl he's been using as a punching bag as a double-agent is a new low in lows. I think she was right, correct way to deal with this menace is a knife in the back in the dark, quickly & quietly. But I guess she would have to also eliminate several more relatives. What a messed up Family.

Judging by the manga, some arcs decided to shuffle, for the sake of the final episodes, as for the episode I don't understand why Uchimura did not introduce the female demons micro bikinis, and yes read these chapters in the manga only to find out what kind of finale awaits the scum in the next episode.

Last episode was already bad enough but man this one really takes the cake. Uchimura really is just a trash MC. This show fell off immensely for me after this episode, especially with the shitty trope of super evil guy that really only deserves death is able to do whatever the fuck they want because plot.

That girl was way too obvious bait. Geez, if MC don't bury Sylphid brother next week/episode im gonna subtract that title so hard even Ulmandra won't save it.

yeah, this one fell flat on its face. the millions of intricacies inherent to crop futures markets are entirely erased, left out, and basically ignored using 'shitty evil mastermind plot elements'.

1. Demon Lord's Army doesn't need legal means. they are a totalitarian feudal society with a singular head and no other checks or balances. 'the DL' can proclaim and enforce whatever he wants since he has the armed forces immediately at his fingertips.

a. arrest the entirety of that guild. family, employees, staff, the whole shebang all at the same time.
b. seize every asset: building, cat, frying pan, stalk of celery in a kitchen, lightbulb, mouse in a wall, the whole guild. then ransack it all for information. turn the entirety of the guild upside down and shake vigorously.
c. torture everybody in the guild till they start screaming stuff. it doesn't matter if they're lying or whatever just to stop the pain. enough facts will come out of each torture session that the entirety of the guild's operations will be discovered alongside the physical corroborating info from b.

2 you're claiming hindsight since i watched the whole episode? shrug. as soon as the guild insulted THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT TO ITS FACE DURING THE FIRST MEETING? the 'shitty evil mastermind' was an obviously lame storyline to use.

a. NOBODY directly under a totalitarian feudal society would behave like that, because multi-generational social norms wouldn't permit it. ya know why Lewis Carrol had the Red Queen scream 'Off with their heads!' all the time and use it in entirely inappropriate situations? because that's what totalitarian feudal societies do, 'kill the opposition and the problem is solved.' that's how they start in the first place, kill all their opponents and take their shit and keep it.
b. especially a long-lived race like that elven family. they would have hundreds upon hundreds of years of experience compressed into a MUCH smaller number of generations. all those years of being stomped down every time they attempted to get rich enough to do something like this episode's content?

like i said earlier, this episode fell flat on its face entirely. i won't even get into how inept and moronically stupid the MC was to take ONE WHISTLEBLOWER's "facts" as 100% god's honest truth. nobody does that, verify everything three or more ways with other sources of data.

i'm DEFINITELY reducing my rating for this whole series after this one episode. it has gone from an 8 due to: nice artwork and quality, OK animation, cute girls drawn sexily in fun outfits, fun premise, and a decent usage of main premise that seems consistent. to a 5 due to lame writing.

@LacingMaster no it isn't a "Some kind of surreal and sick fantasy of the author." it is just a shallow and dumb author who doesn't write anything even approaching deep and well-informed.

So, are we going to dump 30 wyverns-worth of food on the market? Dumping that much meat means the price of Gin will take a hit, but is there some kind of shelf life for the Gin that will allow this to work, or some kind of financial leverage like a bad loan? I don't know the scope of the operation, so I can't predict how much time this ploy would buy unless Urmanda is going to take a side job providing mass meat sales.

And why am I using logic to analyze this anime as if it were some Spicy Wolf channel?

@KiliianSleipnir Yeah, the demon lord has all the power of the state (including armed forces) at his dispose, how's possible one of its big four subordinates bows down to some guildmaster? How come Uchimura doesn't knows of those of "governmental practices" of his world to keep companies on check?

@MiaAyende And you're absolutely right, it's just that in the manga the bruises were terrible and covered the whole body, in the end even clothes couldn't hide them, that's what Uchimura noticed, in the anime they apparently decided to soften the aftermath of a poor elf girl being beaten by a bastard.

This episode had the potential to be great, but it really missed the mark.

First of all, while fighting fair is good and all, when the guild demanded 50 000 G for a bag of grain, a bit of tyranny from the Demon Lord seems appropriate.
The emergency audition was a good idea, but ended in a complete failure. I dont understand why they didnt investigate HOW/WHERE the grain had been moved, when they found out that there WERE grain there earlier.

Also, how the fuck could they dodge the emergency audition?
1 day warning to fix the books and hide the evidence is really pushing it. Also, even if the villagers got "scammed", do they not have receipts? Would they not be able to identify the sellers?

What was Sylphid doing this whole episode? She grew up in a cut-throat merchant family, but her only contribution was that the Lordpent might have been selling by proxy.

They are really laying it on thick with Neia. The whole part was pretty unpleasant. Like, i get it, the guild master is a mustage twirling villan who forcibly recruits and abuses little girls.
What might his other hobbies be? Kicking puppies down stairs?

I cant even be mad at Lord Viper, he is comically evil at this point.

It's nice to get more of Sylphid and Dennosuke working together. I was not expecting to run into her brother. Nor to hear the awful past they shared.

Viper isn't a person Dennosuke can treat like a colleague. His goals are not profits, but sadism!

It'll be interesting to see what business tactic Dennosuke will utilize for round two of this monetary battle.

With the information from Butagalian, this is further confirmed with material sales surging, and the guild definitely is where Uchimura is headed next.

This time, it's Sylphid who accompanies Uchimura to negotiate against a group of elves, and the guildmaster of Viper Lordpent certainly is one figure she would not want to reunite with a relative. Sure, he can trade with Uchimura alright for gim, but their ego for fame and fortune certainly got into their heads, and the slave worker of Neia requesting for his aid...he's certainly a lolicon alright. With her whistleblower information, that is still not enough to prove the Lordpent Family's corruption, and an emergency audit it is to get that evidence.

With the emergency audit turning out to be a failure, the alternative to retrieve the same large pile of gim, while important, had a traitor within the midst, and Neia sold both out to aid Viper transport the gim out temporarily. The stark of truth of Neia being abducted as part of the lower branch of the Lordpent Family, and then conducting the bidding for Viper as she was told, sees Uchimura being at the bar to imagine his former colleagues doing an uprising to boot out corruption.

Once again, thanks to Ulmandra (who continuously misunderstands Uchimura), him going to "settle this account" is quite the conviction to purse out the Lordpent Family's corruption.
