Hitsuji Gondaira's Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen (Mission: Yozakura Family) manga ended in the eighth issue of this year's Weekly Shounen Jump on Monday. The 258th and final chapter marked the manga's approximately five-year run.

Gondaira began drawing the action comedy manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in August 2019. Shueisha published the 27th volume on December 4 last year, with the 28th planned for a February 4 release. The 29th and final volume is set to go on sale on March 4. Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen has a cumulative 3 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Silver Link. adapted the manga into a 27-episode television anime in Spring 2024. Disney+ simulcast the anime through Hulu with subtitles and an English dub. A second season is currently in production for a 2026 airing.

VIZ Media and Shueisha simulpublish the manga in English on its Manga Plus app and website. The former also publishes the manga in physical format and released the 14th volume on December 17. The 15th volume is planned for a February 18 release.

@AmirKazeXD I heard that this manga has been struggling with low returns for years, but it seems that now the author has finally decided to finish it.

@AmirKazeXD I wonder if this was his sincere choice or if the author was hinted that this had gone on too long?

@RobertBobert It was the talk of the town that the magazine wanted to axe this manga at the beginning of 2025, looks like they were correct.

@AmirKazeXD In that case, I wonder what the finale was like in terms of quality and fan satisfaction. To compare with a number of problematic endings to much more financially successful manga last year.

@RobertBobert I don't know since I didn't read anything from this series, and regarding bad endings for JJK or MHA, they really fumbled hard, but they sold well, so no problem for the magazine, they don't care.

@AmirKazeXD Even if Gege was eventually forced to write a big explanation about the ending of the manga and his feelings about it? But anyway, what hurt me the most was the ending of Oshi no Ko, since I was the most invested in this manga and the way the ending felt like a series of increasingly worse decisions just killed me. It's as if Aka either deliberately decided to bury his career and reputation among the fans, or for some crazy reason didn't really care or even understand the risks of it all.

@RobertBobert Sorry for Oshi no ko, the author is bad at writing endings, Kaguya Sama is their other work. Gege wrote the explanation because he wanted to explain to the fans what went wrong!

@AmirKazeXD I get it, it's just very painful to see how you invested so much in some work and cared about the characters only to see that the author himself cares much less about it than you do. Gege was at least honest with the audience, instead of clumsily trying to somehow justify his ending or gaslight fans about its nature. It won't fix the ending, but at least it was honest on his part. Kaguya is still one of my favorite works (although its ending also gave me some controversy and mixed emotions).

It had a decent run, it was never one of my favorites, but I admire how it beat the odds to not get canceled early on.

Just finished it today, it’s been a ride. One of the few SJ’s titles that managed to utilize the cast effectively.

@AmirKazeXD That was wrong. I don't know where you are getting this from. Yozakura sold decent well enough. And it was pointed out at Vol 20 it was going to end. The ending was planned by Gondaira himself. It reached its ending. Nothing more the story could tell.
