Brand new anime in development
https://x.com/SugoiLITE/status/1861665830628700233

The word "brand new" is very interesting. They shouldn't use it if it will be a sequel or the third season.
the St. Theresa's Academy's Friendship Club spin-off anime copium.

Probably not continuing with Arc 2, it's way too long. Jumping to Arc 3 surely not. Idk what then. A prequel? They don't neeed a 8 years old prequel game adaptation...

Actually, the first game released on February 18, 2015. Therefore this must be a 10 year anniversary project. Maybe it actually is a prequel (movie?) with all the characters (Yui, Muimi) that got cut from the TV show. I think it won't include Gourmet Guild then.

They didn't adapt the first arc properly, so I don't see how it could be arc 2 as it relies on things they didn't adapt.
I also can't imagine they would do an anime adaptation of the first game. It wasn't particularly popular (it was shut down after 1 year), and doesn't have much relevance any more. The story was also pretty bad/non-existent in the first place, though I suppose they could just rewrite it.
If it is an actual new series and not a spin-off or movie or something, I think maybe it would just be some slice of life thing without tying into the main plot (maybe just taking from some of the event stories).
Either that or maybe something that ties into a new game? Re Dive isn't doing very well any more in terms of revenue, and they don't seem to know/understand what to do with the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if it EoS'd in the near future. But I also don't think they would give up on the IP, just like they didn't after the first game failed.

maybe it's short format like Umamusu 4-episode ONA from 2023, because the studio already is doing 3 other things in 2025

Do you know why the game isn't doing well at the moment?

Well it will be 7 years old in a couple months now. Back in the day it might have been fine, but now when you have games like Genshin, Star Rail, ZZZ, Girls Frontline 2, Gakuen Idolmaster, Heaven Burns Red, etc etc it's hard for something like Princess Connect to compete. There is a significant difference in production values, visuals, etc.
The story in Princess Connect has kind of been falling off, the gameplay is rather boring (if you would even consider it gameplay), and their idea of new content for players is just more things to fight when that was never fun in the first place, or more stuff to grind.

edit: There are a lot more problems I could go into more depth with, but just as an idea of how the game is performing, the following are estimates of how much money it has made over the years:

2018 7.7 billion yen
2019 14.0b yen
2020 14.0b yen
2021 6.5b yen
2022 4.1b yen
2023 2.9b yen
2024 2.9b yen (so far)

It's clearly not making much money any more. That doesn't necessarily mean it isn't profitable any more, but at some point it doesn't make sense to have the team continue to work on this when they could be doing a new game.
