Plot... Twist?

First of all, I'm surprised to be the first person posting in this topic in over 10 years, but OK. I doubt anyone will even see this, but I wanted to share. The rest of this post will be a spoiler, by the way.

Is it just me who saw this 'plot twist' coming from a mile away? Retz said she had an older brother who was a puppeteer like 30-40 minutes before that brother was revealed to be the antagonist, but that one line blew the whole movie for me. Instantly, I went 'ohhh, so her brother is the main villain, the reason Pairo was acting against his friend is because he's just a puppet, Retz earlier said a puppet's life is contained in it's eyes so that's why the villain stole Kurapika's.' From then on, the rest of the movie just made that more and more obvious though I caught on the first 'subtle' hint they gave us. Did anyone else have a similar experience with this movie?

Don't worry, this isn't canon except for a little info about Kurapika and his clan's backstory.

Those hints are intentional. Traditional Writers often build up expectations so that they can satisfy the audience with a "aha! I knew this was it!"

It's not the style everyone's interested in anymore, but that's what it is. A style.

@Otaku_4511 well, I guess, but they made it a bit too obvious I think, it basically made me want to drop the movie then and there since the predicted plot wasn't even that good. I know the hints are intentional, but, they could definitely have handled it better.

Yeah thats fair. It was made to sell tickets to get money to finance the first half of Chimera Ant Arc. Served its purpose. Non-canon theatrical releases are supposed to be just "spend some more time with your favorite characters on a brand new adventure".
