Can we all agree that this anime is not a comedy but a drama heavy series? The only semblance of comedy was at episode 1 then from that point onwards it became deep and serious some people find it a tear-jerker. My issue I'm trying to point out here is that having the comedy tag draws in viewers expecting nonsensical highjinx and silly misunderstandings culminating into a hilarious punchline. A good number of viewers would feel weirded out and betrayed that they feel they got bait and switched. I believe that this anime is already being unfairly misjudged by the title and synopsis alone and now it's currently being misrepresented by the tag. Whoever made that choice to do the wacky opening probably didn't research the source material. The marketing for this anime horrendously made a mistake overall. This anime could've been 2024's Your Lie in April or Ano Hana |

I concur (character limit) But I don’t think it’s that deep. Granted I knew what I was getting myself into before the anime aired |

You should’ve expected from a show that has a main character whose wife died 10 years ago and she gets reincarnated |

It defiantly is a comedy and a drama. There was plenty of comedy in the first episodes. Just because the mood has changed in recent episodes, does not mean that is no longer can be considered a comedy. Watching comedic works in history, there are some that have just comedy throughout, or others that blend comedy with more dramatic aspect too. This would probably be described as dramatic comedy. |

the anime version is... more focused in drama so i guess it's safe to remove the comedy tag. and like above me said the adaptation is so rushed. though i don't hate it because already know everything that they skip. look like they plan to compile the whole story (14 volumes/111chapters) into this 1 cour anime. maybe the one who add the tag is looking at the source material, i agree with comedy and SoL tag if it's for manga but not the anime. |

I'm not opposed to its inclusion of the Comedy tag for genres, but it not having the Drama tag there alongside it is bizarre and totally unjustifiable. Many anime on MAL used to be labeled as "Comedy" even for the presence of occasional comedic relief whereas the overall tone was much more serious and the main plot was serious and treated as such. I've noticed in the past few years that a lot of those comedy tags have been removed where they were deemed not to fit or most accurately describe the focus of a given anime. It seemed to coincide with different rules being imposed on use of the genre tags (like no "Slice of Life" genre tag alongside either "Drama" or "Comedy", which I still strongly disagree with), the elimination of some genres completely (like "Magic" and "Dementia"), and the addition of themes and demographics sections. But many anime, just like many non-anime films and TV series, could be labeled as "Dramedy", in that they have both elements of drama and comedy. This obviously has both, even though I also feel that it leans more heavily into and is much moreso overall a drama, primarily. To omit that tag, there's no excuse for it. If it's a simple oversight then it's just one of many on the website, is not really a big deal, happens often, and hopefully eventually will be rectified by adding "Drama" in there; preferably sooner rather than later. But if someone is leaving it that way on purpose and consciously driving that decision, then yeah, it's absurd. sDluffy said: na i had high hopes for this anime but i was a very big downfall they tried to adapt whole manga in 1 season which made character progression very bad and then there was sudden change in behaviour of them only good character development in this series is the single mother and daughter the whole family is clinging to the child till the end and calling her mother like hell ai know a person would be emotional to see lost one after years but it feels different she is different person has different life let her move on with that but no they are clinging to her and even gave her a smartphone without the knowledge of her mother like really how can a 50 years old call a 7 years old girl even if ahe is reincarnated as a his wife the 1st time is ok they met after 10 years but like continuously for all episodes even in alone u should know better then this man with this series i had high hopes that it would be very emotional touching atory but the family puts it off for me thay just cling to 7 year old child so they won't feel lonely or alone or be left out but this is very bad sign they are grown man they should understand It has absolutely nothing to do with age or being a "grown" man or woman or not. You lose your immediate family member - your wife, your husband, your mother, your father, your son, your daughter, or your brother or your sister, and it can irreparably change a person's life in a massive way for the rest of their days. It doesn't matter if you're five or 50. Not everyone processes grief and loss the same way or has the same emotional baseline. Some people can get over things relatively quickly or were emotionally distant from and never had the best relationship with those family members to begin with, or had a negative or abusive relationship. To others, they were the center of their world and gave purpose and meaning to their life, like a feeling behind wanting to be alive in the first place and the meaning to life. You can't just say random fictional character A (or person in the real world) is this age and this sex, so they should feel a certain way that you may if you were confronted with the same situation. They're not the same person as you. Totally different life experiences and mindset. That doesn't make a series and story unbelievable or poor. This comes across very closed-minded. The pacing is a separate issue, and on that, I agree and wish it were far longer. |

On the main young girl character's age, I think she's supposed to be nine - 10 years-old rather than seven. I thought it was mentioned that she first gained Takae's old consciousness/memories when she passed the Nijima household when she was nine, and it's been around a year since then. Also, the girl's name is Marika. I think you may have mixed her up with the daughter, Mai (who lives with her father and is a lot older than Marika, somewhere in her 20s), but I get it and still generally understand what you're saying. On everything else, after reading it, I can't really say you're wrong - just that I would behave differently, probably more similar to Keisuke, so I understand and naturally sympathize with him more. So I think again it just comes down to preference - maybe if you can relate to the main character/characters' actions more you will enjoy this series more as opposed to if you can't. The difference will come down to personality, mindset, life experience, ideology/worldview, etc. I can't really say that one is right or wrong. |

(which are 9 to 10) then she will tell them she is moving on blaah blaah then 2 episodes remain which will show takae moving on to other life and marika getting her memories of takae in to her and last episode we will see 2 merriages yeah right 1 will be mai and other will be moria and keisuke to show takae he is moving on so she can pass to other life and then marika tells them she has memories of takae with her and telling them they did good to move on come back and check this after series ends and this are not manga spoilers i think this is what will happens |

You do realize this is a fictional story and not attempting to be reality?
This is fictional story that explores the idea of “reincarnation” and how different humans deal with such a concept.
It is not trying to be realistic.
@ejleon I think before everything else this is the first thing people must accept, as some here had taken it way too seriously to the point that they insult other people. Nevermind that they thing watching this will somehow magically make you attracted to little kids because they alone do not understand how human relationship works... Other than that... -Yes, this anime is much more drama than comedy. -Yes, this anime follows only ~20% of the manga story so far. But that in itself is not a bad thing as anime has a chance to do its own anime ending that can potentially be much better than what we got in manga ending. -No, none of this makes this anime bad in itself. It is a little rushed but the main drama is still there and the story itself is still very good. |

It is a little rushed but the main drama is still there and the story itself is still very good. i don't think this anime will make you attracted to little girls and that is not my point |

Everyone in the Nishima family, including Takae, was under the impression that she was back for good. From their perspective, there wasn't a hint that it was temporary. So the idea that Takae was only back to teach them to move on is completely from our perspective, looking in. I can sympathize with Keisuke to some degree. He lost the love of his life, and it had a devastating effect on him so bad it greatly affected his ability to be a functioning father for 10 whole years. I don't know how you'll react to something this magnanimous and miraculous at the same time, but almost everyone I know, including myself, would feel so blessed if given the chance to be with their soul mate once again. Your apathetic and almost indifferent approach to a hypothetical scenario is unrealistic as well. Quite frankly, it doesn't make sense at all given the circumstances how something so incredible and divine happen could only be wasted on you. "Oh, you're back from the afterlife to be with me? Nah, I'm good. I've moved on." what you are saying is absolutely correct but think from the perspective she is just 9 year old kid an you are grown above 50 age so how can you even call that back with soulmate man You're doing the premise of the story a disservice by getting too focused on the 9 yr old kid that plays host to Takae's spirit. There have been manga and anime about loved ones coming back either by reincarnation or possession occupying animals, objects, and people of all ages, yet nobody makes a fuss about it except this one. This manga/anime only fault is existing in this era of political correctness because if this was released in the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s, this would've been an instant classic and not the subject of disdain from the morality woke mob. |

iam not saying it is wrong in any way or form you should know that iam a isekai trash fan so this should tell you a lot I don't care what they show or how afterall this is a anime but how and in which way the characters handle the situation is way and no this would have not been a classic there are many good to legendry level shows which had aired from 2000 to 2010. some of them are not even considered classic after being so good then this mid show in 2000 would have stayed mid because of how bad a person's decision making power is |

Late to this because I didn't realize a post was made on this ahahahahah There are bits of comedy here and there in the show with the light-hearted moments of the show but is definitely overpowered with the family drama throughout the whole show so to call this a comedy and not a drama is very nonsensical on whichever idiot tagged the manga as being a romcom This is a series about overcoming loss and eventually moving on with it, where on earth did the taggers think comedy would fit in with all of that Sure towards the start it plays like a comedy but you can't say the whole thing is a comedy then just because all the laughter and giggling ends after episode 1 and the rest of it is just heavy content And then it's like oh yeh but I mean read the plot and see what to expect so then that means the genres are allowed to be different because I'm not really reading into what the plot is about??? If so then I'll trust the Kids love this sticker on the front of that Human Centipede DVD box lol Even if the genre was true to this show's plot, the whole direction of this show would be completely different then Literally several other places online don't even include this as a comedy so why would it be okay to lie about this on here, but I mean, we here are using MAL so there's that argument too lololol |
