| Is the main TV series not the prequel? It just seems like they're really milking this particular iteration of the franchise for all it's worth. I'm not exactly complaining, but it has to stop at some point, right? I personally want more Gundam Wing as I hear it has a novel sequel made ages ago, and flew under the radar. That was my jam back in 95. |

| @Estoy_Gordo There is a quick scene in the movie showing Foundation stealing the Freedom Gundam. I'm like 99.9% sure the staff said that if they did anything else it would be to show the story of how they actually stole the Freedom. So that is what this is. |

| @deg It was supposed to be an OVA, but they haven't decided on what the format is going to be. I'm guessing a prequel film. |

@ss4chris Probably because there were quite a few plotholes in the movie and they're looking for a way to bridge the one-year gap between CE 74 and 75. I'm guessing it will also expand on the Kingdom of Foundation, and the Black Knights squad, as we know close to nothing about them.

| I read that the project was originally planned over a decade ago, it had a completed script and partially finished storyboards, likely intended as an ova. So, it’s likely it will stay that way. I'm not surprised it's being made after all that time, considering the film has become the highest-grossing entry in Gundam's cinematic history, breaking previous records. |
