The trailers and pv’s so far look very stiff, and the director is nameless, the only show that he directed was based on a card game which doesn’t look really good, neither is it popular. The animation studio TMS themselves are pretty mediocre recently in terms of animation. Their movies are animated well, but SakaDays isn’t a movie, it’s a TV show, and their tv shows aren’t really well animated. So far the only character pv I liked was Taro Sakamoto’s, the animation looks quite nice in that. But other than that the animation is no where near the requirement. Now, if the anime is not animated well enough, the series won’t be popular, and everyone will regard it as “just another anime that came out this season”, which I find irritating considering that stuff like Kaiju No.8 and Elusive Samurai, both which even by the ratings are not as good as Sakamoto Days, got good treatment, but Sakamoto Days got this. The anime won’t be bad, the animation won’t be bad either, it will be fun, but nothing more than that unfortunately. What do y’all think?

It doesn't look incredible, but it doesn't look awful either. When you have stuff like Blue Lock and Tower of God airing, the PVs still look way better in comparison.

Better case scenario would be for Yoh Moriyama to pull through with his connections from Megalo Box to make a good scene every once in a while.

it will be over shadowed and compared and criticized with solo leveling season 2 which is airing at the same time and that had a lot of peak action directors working on it.

I agree, the first few PVs make it look entirely mediocre. That’s fine for a mediocre manga, but SD is one of the best and deserves an insane adaptation. Mid animation unfortunately means it may not perform greatly and could only get one season.
Gachiakuta is the greatest manga of all time

The fact you have to compare it bottom of the barrel shit like Blue Lock and Tower of God Season 2s shows on itself how bad it is, plus the main reason Megalo Box looked and moved good was because they were given years of production (around 5) not because of staff power

hmm it doesn't do the manga justice. the manga has really clean and detailed art. elusive Samurai got lucky it got good animators.
anyways, it's not awful and doesn't hurt my eyes so far so I guess it's fine. but yes, if anyone ever asks me, I'll tell them to read the manga..

SL will definitely overshadow it. no doubts. the animation alone makes it hyped

It's not bad, at all. I only brought up these because of how many people in the fandom are already doomposting and acting like these are absolute bottom of the barrel stuff, when it's really not.

A production having five years wouldn't mean shit if it doesn't have the actual people to use that time effectively. Plus I highly doubt it was literal five years in production, most of it was probably pre-production anyway, specially since we're talking sbout an original series.

Bro scheduling is more important than staff, there’s been dozens of anime with very good staff that fell due to poor scheduling, if you’re given 5 years of production (and actually work during that unlike Uzumaki) then there is no way your anime turns out bad

I dont eat Burger King. And ye I agree maybe it’s a bit to early to judge, but pretty much all of the promos and trailers have looked underwhelming, a trailer is usually supposed to have snippets of the best scenes in the anime, and look at what we got. And as I said, TMS isn’t really popular for its animation. You think I want it to be bad? SakaDays is one of my fav mangas, so it’s natural that I worry a bit.

@Hickykissy Probably in the west, but Sakamoto is more popular in japan from what I gather. Plus, Sakamoto will have that new series talk while SL will be limited by being a sequal.

I don't know about that the only comment that I see in the comments of the osaragi pv is all the Japanese people complaining about her lace design which the anime removed for budget issue, lmao 🤣

I kind of agree, the action scenes in the PV look pretty stiff, but well it hasn't been released yet, we hope for the best, because honestly I don't trust TMS that much either. But the animation seems to be "watchable" so it's better to just wait before we draw conclusions.

The first part of the show is more of a comedy series. It turns into an action anime after a few dozen chapters and honestly I like that part a lot less. If its popular then it might get a studio upgrade to handle the action heavy parts of the series.

It looks decent, which isn’t what SakaDays deserves because of the action scenes, but it will still be enjoyable.
