I have watched dozens of romance anime but I have never witnessed a peanut brained MC like him. I mean come on dude even after all those hints Shirori gave him even a blind person can tell they have feelings. And at last episode I thought that Akari might confess her feelings and maybe our MC has to choose one from them but I think this cliffhanger is also good. So main thing, What will they show in whole season 2? So manga readers, what's the plot going to be for next season. I would love to know it. I know they both made it to rank A. But I was guessing how much episode can it take for them to decide to swap or not. 2 or maybe 4? Add some drama and other stuffs to extend story so maybe 6? Then will they show their cute moments of being together in remaining episodes? |

The fact that they haven't announced season 2 even after 2 years of a successful anime shows that they don't have enough confidence that the next season will turn out good. I can be completely wrong here but everyone is welcome to write their theories about next season plot. I would love to read them incase if we never get season 2. If you think they decide to do a second season or not based on how the story continues, like for example because it has a boring or uninspiring arc, that's not how it works. There are other factors. Also up until about 1 year ago there wasn't enough material for a second season since the anime stopped around the 30th chapter if I'm not mistaken. And if you really wanted to know, a possible second season would include the part where they get together |

There most likely won't be a season 2. The ending is purposefully different to the manga to leave the anime with an open ending as to who he ends up |

Probably not to prevent a second season, but most anime are only made with one season for the purpose of promoting the manga/light novel. The way the anime ended is different from the manga and leaves it with a conclusion that makes it an open ending for who Jiro ends up with. If they were to make a second season, they'd need to make even more modifications to make the series get back on track with the manga. |

There's series I read which I love which either aren't adapted or don't cover the whole material. Vinland Saga - Stopped after S2 and the manga gets better. Kaoru Hana - Did recently get announced though Magi - Story got way better after S2 Spice and Wolf - New adaption may adapt the whole LN but original didn't. Akebi's Sailor Uniform - Only did 1 season and the art and story is amazing Kimi ni Todoke - Got S3 this year after 13 years but i don't expect it to adapt the entire manga. The World is Still Beautiful - One 2 cour season Yona of the Dawn - Only had one 2 cour season |

@mccreepyy Thanks for all the info, that's really sad. Why do you think there focus is on the writer material and not non making anime? Are they really so intertwined? |

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by that comment. Though typically, there is more focus on making an adaption that grabs the attention of views to bring more attention to the source material. Sometimes, if the series gets big enough and is seen as a profitable project, it leads to sequels such as ReZero, MT, Demon Slayer, etc. |

@mccreepyy I meant that it seems like anime are only made to draw people to the written material, unless it is popular and profitable, then it will get more seasons. I previously thought anime were made to present the stories to people who couldn't read the written material, so continuing with new seasons to match the written material, seemed like how it would go. But finding out that this s not the case, I am probably missing out on a lot of good continued stories, because I don't have time to read the writing material. |

Yeah it is unfortunate but that's how it tends to be in most cases. It is nice when they do end up adapting entire series but I find they mostly do that for your really big Shounen series which means most of the ones I love don't get more than a season |

They can easily do a second season if they want but 2 years have passed and still no announcement. Maybe they just don't want to make a second season and are saying "go buy manga if you want to know what happens next". |

The way the anime ended is different from the manga and leaves it with a conclusion that makes it an open ending for who Jiro ends up with. If they were to make a second season, they'd need to make even more modifications to make the series get back on track with the manga. I agree that adaptations have sole purpose of making more sales of source material but this anime was popular with good rating and I don't think so it will be difficult to adapt season 2 just because ending is different. They can easily do a second season if they want but 2 years have passed and still no announcement. Maybe they just don't want to make a second season and are saying "go buy manga if you want to know what happens next". yeah a second season is definitely doable but I mainly just don't expect another season due to the story itself. They probably don't expect it to be successful enough for another season Everyone has different views regarding material left for adaption. Manga is going good. It now depends on production committee if they want to produce a new season or not |

Do you have empty head on your shoulders or what? where I said HE SHOULD BANG THEM ALREADY? I was literally talking about how bold is MC about guessing the hints of Akari and Shiori and here someone thought they should bang, waoh. Akari and shiori gave him way too many hints that they have feelings for him and still he was like, what were they doing? Did they really mean it? Hints were so clear that even a blind can tell. Second thing, I am not blind. I know they both made it to rank A. But I was guessing how much episode can it take for them to decide to swap or not. 2 or maybe 4? Then will they show their cute moments of being together in remaining episodes? You should understand what's someone saying first before speaking I read your original shit carefully, unlike you who didn't write it carefully apparently, since you changed it so much. You're wrong, is the point. What you perceived to be nutbrain behavior, the fact that he doesn't "realize" that akari "likes him", is so off the mark that I had to make a joke out of it. The story leaves out much of their lives and how their mindsets are made, and includes all of their perspectives at the same time, so that the audience has to piece out why the characters act the way they do most of the time. The fact that akari has always shown interest in and infatuation with tenjin, the fact that yakuin has no experience with women, likes shiori who made him think he was friend zoned and made an agreement with akari to be a fake couple until they can switch. You'd only think what you do about him if you had only had a shallow look into the show, just concerned and influenced by the most notable scenes, ignoring the full picture and the things left unsaid and not shown. Also unsaid, btw, a confession by any of them. But because you can hear their thoughts and see their reactions all the time, you assume they must too. Instead of enjoying the whole point behind a love triangle romcom, you get frustrated because the mc just doesn't end the story already. Even if the pic is not exactly what you think, I think it's fitting enough. |

No, from the beginning they agreed to help one another with getting the people they like. All throughout the series to the end they are talking about how to set up times for them to pursue the ones they each like. Yes, they both start falling for each other during their time together, but they do keep trying to help each other with the ones they like, all while each starts to get jealous. It isn’t until Akari talks to Minami near the end does Akari fully commit to pursuing Jirou. Only Shiori & Akari know they pursuing Jirou as rivals. |

I loved this anime and I do hope there is a second season. It's my mistake for choosing wrong words. I didn't mean there were mistakes in episode 7. I meant to say that after episode 7 MC became irritating for me. Anyways, you can read updated thread now to update your response A major factor is the total lack of confidence Jirou has with both Shiori & Akari, which is totally frustrating, but that happens a lot in anime, don’t know why. Another factor is that Akari and Jirou are pursuing other people all the way up to the end, which they agreed to help each other do, so Jirou doesn’t think anything serious is going to happen between and passes things off. Akari, even though she teased Jirou before, is becoming more serious about their relationship, without even telling Jirou that would be the case, they are not on the same page. He is even surprised at how jealous Akari actually is on the trip, because he didn’t think anything beyond the year school project between them was going to happen and that she was still pursuing Minami. It isn’t until Akari & Minami have a serious talk, that Akari finally decides to pursue Jirou 100%, becoming Shiori’s rival at the end. I wouldn’t say it is all Jirou’s fault, but he does play a role in how events and interactions, but other factors did play a role too. |

They are pretending to be a fake couple and Akari always talks about Minami and they agreed to help each other to achieve their love and also Jiruo has no experience with women. Let's put her case aside, although an experienced man would have noticed her hints already because she gave too many at beach episode like Minami noticed and talked about it in end of ep 11. But let's talk about Shiori. Do friends kiss? She literally kissed him at end of ep 11 and even said, "I think tag of childhood friend isn't enough to keep you close to me" and "Will you show me your side which even Akari doesn't know". Then she said forget about it and all but are these not enough for someone to guess she has feelings for him? I can agree that in previous episodes she didn't give him clear hints but in ep 11 all was clear even for a man with no experience with women. Still he was like, why did she kiss me? What did she mean by it? I mean come on dude, ok let's consider he's still in dilemma. Why not talk with her. At this point she has already surpassed the boundaries of friend zone. Go and talk to her why she kissed if you don't know. I got frustrated at this point because it's too far from reality even for an anime. |

@_otaku_man00 I don't think Akari needed give them space, none of them were dating. Things progressed slowly between Shiori / Jirou & Akari / Minami, while things progressed faster for Akari & Jirou. At first, Akari teased Jirou a lot to see his awkward reactions [i[(something they do in anime a lot),[/i] but later she is actually trying to find out how Jirou feels about her and about Shiori, like when she tested him about being a virgin or not. From the beginning they agreed to help each other with their crushes, and they continued to do so on the surface, but their feelings for one another were getting stronger, even resulting in some jealousy. Akari wouldn't have ever considered Jirou before they lived together, and she was genuinely falling in love with him, so she ends up feeling torn between her crush and Jirou, until Minami explains his situation and says he can't be with her, which frees Akari to pursue Jirou 100% and become Shiori's rival. I don't think of Jirou as a back up, but an unexpected romance to fall into her life, and she really loved him. |

Idk I think there is enough material for a season 2 we are in chapter 74 if I’m not wrong with monthly releases. Nevertheless it won’t get spicy until towards the end where we are currently in the manga. That’s where it gets good with the romance and the talks for the future. I love the premise of the story and the drama is great. If you cannot wait I would highly recommend reading it. It’s a great read and it will have you cheering once you hit where the manga is at as of now. Oh school festival arc which is literally right after where the anime ended is the slowest part of the manga by far so you move form it pretty fast |

Reincarnated as a Sword had a season 2 announced right after, but there is still no update. Genshin had an anime announcement, and nobody knows wtf is happening there. The bottom line is either season 2 is marked down to be made or they’ve completely moved on. There’s no way to tell. It also doesn’t help that there isn’t a lot of material to work with. Keep buying the manga and supporting the work to encourage the studios to greenlight a season 2. |
