I mean, the original VC is in Demon Slayer, it's not like he's retired or something. He fit the character really well, I just hope this one will be as good

Hiroshi Kamiya one of my favourite VA, he voices characters like Shinji Matou (Fate Series), Koyomi Araragi (Monogatari Series), Levi Ackermann (AoT), Zetsubou Sensei (Sayonara Zetsubou Senssei), Kakushi Gotou (Kakushigoto) and Ataru (Urusei Yatsura remake)

the reason they change the v.a it's because Sakurai Takahiro has a scandal affair towards his wife with his colleague and the worst part is his gf didn't know he had a wife and she was been fool for 10 years and he is married for 20 years and later another woman came up as well.. so many great characters has been taken away from Sakurai including Cloud Strife and many more. I was pretty sad cuz he acted many great voice and in Japan voice acting scandals are quite serious, it's effected the character. but it's been 2 years now about that scandal. some are forgiven others or not for example Lisa singer husband Tatsuhisa if u realize he no longer as active as before due to Lisa is very famous.

imagine when this news came up everyone is in shock even for Suzumura San, is one of his boss and friend but no one knows he was married for 20 years lol I was in shock too because Sakurai San usually behave well among the female voice actress. even Sugita San sometimes tease the female va unlike Sakurai. but too bad I wish Sakurai played this character again. I really hope he still voice for miyuki kazuya in Ace of Diamond cuz I can think of the voice changed.

@EmiPyon It's confirmed that he will continue playing his role as Miyuki. He attended the latest broadcast on 18/05 with other VAs (Ryouta, Hanae, Nobunaga) when they announced the new season.

@EmiPyon He continued playing his role as cloud strife (this is also confirmed) and he continued all of his other roles.
The only role he lost was this one (Mononoke)

oh really..he really still playing for this role? awesome I mean I can't imagine if this role being taken away from him..glad to know that..

oh really? cuz once in awhile I saw final fantasy ad in Asahi TV and I heard the voice sounded like him but I wasn't sure is it still him or Chiaki voice cuz Chiaki have the same sultry voice like him.. glad that they didn't complete freeze him .

yeah he hasn't lost a lot of roles that he already has, Mononoke is kinda the exception. what he most likely lost is new role opportunities, he's pretty much only been in sequels of anime he already voiced for a while now. (I think the only exception is like, a minor role in kamierabi and an obscure short TV anime about a dog lmao)

Thank you for sharing this, it actually makes a lot of sense. I was very disappointed in the changes of the character originally, but knowing it is legitimately a different character and not simply a poor adaption of the tv series character gives me a bit more hope.
