Yeah I'm not really sure how to take this. I guess it's kinda cool but also unnecessary? If it plays an actual part in the movies going forward than I guess we'll just have to see. But otherwise, it just seems like some sort of "fun fact," even if the medicine seller briefly touched upon it in the movie.

Can you elaborate on the medicine seller not being the same character as in the series? I was not aware of that.
