Relaxing drama romantic story
With great music, and good animation and art work

Romance animes tend to have a low ranking in the west.
(Roshidere is 3rd this season but there is the comedy at the beginning which appeal to a large audience)

If that can comfort you Gimai Seikatsu is in the top 10 of Abema in Japan atm.

It's a fine anime, not much great imo... Rating goes with opinions of everyone... Some might think it's great and others mid or bad... For me it's a nice fine ride, I really enjoy it... For now it's solid 6/10 for me...

Personally I think it's too high rated at the moment I'm waiting to see how it goes Till the last episode it has potential. I think it's ok so far.
Also... why people Rate a anime when it started airing and the season is not finished? Id understand if it were a sequel and the prequel was good but this anime ain't a sequel.
Is it rated by the Manga/ LN readers?

Keep in mind the #1 show on the whole site is only a 9.35, you will never see a global 10 on MAL, you have to round down what you expect a bit. On the subject of rank, this show is currently #2203 of all time which I think is quite impressive for something so new and on such an early episode. I'd actually say the rank and score show people are liking it a fair bit.

Personally i think the score is fine, right now i have at a similar score, which don't be mistaken i do like it. 7 is a good score, i could see it getting higher, considering many people only score after they finish, and that from what i heard it only gets better.

LOL 7.41 is not low. The show looks promising but the adaptation is not that good, and it's only 2 episodes now.
Let people finish it and if it was better, the score will increase.

I have always kept a score from episode 1 and adjust it depending on my feelings after each episode. That is how the system is set up. Yet several people here and in many other threads seem to have the opinion that that is wrong. Can one such person spare a few minutes to explain the reasoning for waiting til the end to add a score? It seems pointless to me, as the final score will be the same anyway and updating weekly just helps people to see how others perceive a show in real time. Thanks…
And BTW I think at this point the 7.5ish score is ok, it has had a steady start with no major drama so there’s not much to judge it by yet.

dude ik how it feels to be a LighNovel reader .....
people don't appreciate slow psychology in romances... they want the main couple to hit third base within like 3-4 ep which is kinda cliche...having a slow romance with the niche concept of having a deep emotional type with slow pace relationship in Gimai Seikatsu only some tend to appreciate it!
As a reader of LNs i rate Gimai seikatsu>Angel next door both are like THE BEST but Gimai satisfied my niche tastes!!

I feel like it might be overly pretentious, especially with a title like "Time with my stepsister". People that came for the spice are disappointed that it's taking itself seriously and people that want a wholsome romance wouldn't watch an anime about stepsiblings in the first place.

The only anime that start with a very high score right off the bat are the ones with:

- a pre-existing fanbase (from the source material or previous seasons) watching them as soon as possible and spamming 10/10
- a mindblowing first episode, usually due to great animation and/or heart wrenching drama

Gimai Seikatsu didn't seem to be as hyped as, for example, the Russian Girl anime, it's a slow burn and, even if it's well directed, animation isn't top tier. If it keeps getting better, the score will raise; good writing becomes more evident in the long run.

I think it’s because it feels like a more serious romance series and not so much the comedy and ecchi moments people may have been looking for. This feels like a mature story with the way these characters are portrayed. I do appreciate the way this series is shot with how they use camera angles and music to give you a certain vibe. It does feel more of a show don’t tell series. I’m locked in to see where this goes, I’m so interested in the main characters backgrounds

Well, shows with "unpopular tropes" will be inherently rated a little lower, which applies to a series with stepsister in its name (some people like to give 1s for no reason) so you can probably raise it a little higher to like 7.6 which seems fair (for now)

It's too slow. These types of stories along with angel next door works well in LN where you can go at your own pace. But in anime it's hard to sit through something where almost nothing in particular is happening.

Also the rating is low mostly because of a not too impressive and rememberable start. As a LN it was pretty popular and it will continue to be but in anime format it's just another show most people is gonna forget about the next season.

Even the 1st ep was really cool, the 2nd was really boring: really slow rythm of talking, slow animation with a 30 sec focus on the MC in the beginning of the ep (just..why?), and actually no real content in there, just the 2 MCs talking about money in the major part. So yeah I can understand why this notation, some Animes in this style are better and have a worst note so this anime is ok actually. I'm a Anime Only so this is a subjective notice
