It’s a reference to Soul Eater, which is another creation of the guy who made Fire Force. I don’t know why it’s there but I’m very interested to find out.

Honestly, Soul Eater is such an iconic IP at this point that if they don't announce a sequel or a remake right after Fire Force ends, it will be one of the biggest fumbles in anime history.

Just today I was wondering about the connection between Soul Eater and Fire Force, since they use the same skull. It was the same author, that's why.

It’s because Fire Force is set in the same world as Soul Eater 😉 so we will see alot of ref points
