The season is only consist of 12 episodes. The series will probably kill off characters in the season 2 or cour 2. So far the biggest plot armour moment in the series was when Kafka failed to kill Kaiju No.9 .And just because of that, he will probably kill or caused lot of problem in the future episodes. The same old typical villian of the series.

My doctor has always told me to smoke. He even explains himself: “Smoke, my friend. Otherwise someone else will smoke in your place.”

@E-Satie you sure? I doubt it. Shows that mix in comedy and lightheartedness like this one typically have happy endings and characters only get close to dying and the save themselves at the last moment. Maybe two characters could die. Another anime like this is my hero academia.
Also episode 11 reminds me of aot when they didn't want to accept Eren when he turned into a Titan and then they accepted him anyway, that's probably what's going to happen later in this.

My comment is obviously prediction. But looking at the series that's probably what gonna happen. Since, the series is just following generic and predictable route.

I really fail to understand 'characters don't die' as a bad thing. What does introducing a bunch of extra cast members just so your show can have a bodycount actually add to the story? It's a shlocky battle shounen. There is no amount of side character death you could inflict that could make me believe the lead cast are in any real danger and that they will not triumph in the end. So what's the point? Characters are more interesting when they are alive, and can do stuff, and killing them off for 'stakes' or 'realism' does nothing but cut off any potential for them do anything interesting in the future.

Oh, lmao. You're far off the mark, bud. This show is not lighthearted or positive in anyway, trust me. It's dark, and I mean DARK. You didn't see that much death this season. Just wait for what's to come.

even on later parts of the manga there are barely any deaths on the main characters so yes this is not that kind of series that will have lots of deaths

If you’re looking for main characters dying then don’t get your hopes up.

I don't understand people who look for death in an anime, whether it's meaningless death like in KnY or JJK. Killing characters left and right does not make an anime more adult or dark if death is nonsense.

KN8 is entertaining, S2 will be interesting because of Narumi's presentation and the fights to come.

@Ayano death is normal, people die everyday. I start accepting the death in anime after AOT, at first I really hate it and make me quite depressed (i was in high school!), but later when they used it too in AGK,KNY & JJK, I think meh, its a good sparking moment for MC. Death for a reason.

"Unlike Demon Slayer"

Up to where the anime is, there is one relevant character that died

is a better example.

Bro said "unlike Demon Slayer." Oh boy, lol...

And AOT? Bruh plenty of characters died in AOT. You chose the 2 worst examples 💀

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

@thebrentinator24 Going off topic: do you realise you use "bro" to someone you don't acknowledge as a bro?

Unlike is used the same way as the following example: Ice is cold, unlike steam and lava <- aka the unlike implies this are examples of something that's opposite of the 1st part. Aka, you misunderstood and OP mentioned those 2 exactly because a lot of death did occurs.

Anyways, moving on from this, back to the topic

I agree that the author loves the characters. And this is actually something very good. One of the best examples, like Dragonball and Gintama, just ruins the tension when you know that all of them will come back even from fatal wounds, at least here it's made clear that it's due to kaiju or power suit ability and not the "power of author", making all scenes still worth watching since you never know who will actually die.

Second part: this is actually a very good thing. I watched many anime, I loved a lot of them, but I never gave a (personal opinion) score of very good (8) or more exactly because they had crap characters. Aka the type you wish they die, not because they are enemies or monster or whatever, but simple because you can't stand seeing them. After all, it's usually just irritated or/and arrogant people, who, if you take this elements away, they are completely empty, a mob enemy. As they are nothing more then a stepping stone to continue the story, and depending if the protagonist is a hero (heroes don't kill the bad people, dark heroes do), said enemy will be killed off due to an accident (like explosion or collapse of structure), own plan backfired (Karma, got killed by monster, got killed via being transformed into a monster so the heroes kills a monster and not human) or similar things.

While this anime, as well as others, you have clear characters, who aren't just there to fill in some roles. Making it enjoyable to watch

Also, since there was mentioning about how anime where tons of character die isn't enjoyable, I will mention the following anime:

https://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=53730

This is more a comedy. Drama or similar tension doesn't exist so it doesn't fit any of the serious anime where other characters die. Otherwise, I won't explain why I mentioned this anime, due to spoiler of the surprise (+ plus if you don't mind a mini spoiler, you can always just read the description). Also, don't expect it to be a very good/hidden pear since that wasn't the reason why I mentioned
