Hear me out. I get it, Suicide Squad + anime and an isekai on top of that? It's a crazy combination, so they can do whatever they want with it. Probably a cash grab to promote their streaming service and is probably just for fun ultimately. I have no issue with all of that. But I'm going to be honest; I think they really missed a chance to adapt one of the comic books.

I'm a DC fan and I would cream at the thought of Wit studio adapting one of the comics (that still haven't been adapted by DC animation), like Batman: Knightfall (or Beyond. There is the 1999 show, but it would be fun to see it with modern animation. Or many, many others), Superman: Up In The Sky (or Kingdom Come), Wonder Woman: Dead Earth or Hiketeia, Blackest Night, Sinestro Corps War or maybe some Teen Titans or Young Justice. They could've also gone wacky and adapt Justice League International, Plastic Man, The Question, etc.. Actually, a lot of characters could be involved in a general Justice League comic like 'Justice,' but JL International would be an easy choice, and a comical one. Even if it lacks the most popular characters.

Or if you want to get really fantastical without having to literally teleport characters to a fantasy world like an isekai: Warworld saga, Justice League Dark or Dark Knights of Steel.

Point is, I feel a bit disappointed that instead of any of that, we got 'Isekai Suicide Squad.' As if isekai wasn't tiresome already. I'll still watch this of course, but I can't help but feel that we maybe we could've gotten something more substantially comic-oriented. I know not everyone here cares about DC. This is just how I feel about it, since I doubt Wit is going to do another one of these.

Maybe they will if Isekai Suicide Squad becomes successful.

I can think of two reason why it's isekai, one, isekai is the absolute craze in Japan rn, two the other superhero shows that actually did a normal adaptation did not do well, like the marvel anime by madhouse, even tho iron and x men were good, so of course they had to spice it up a bit to make it interesting and do well in Japan, and isekai does well, and it's success could end up spawning actual superhero animes that are more like the comics

Wait till it's out before complaining.
Tho, I do get your issue with it.
Maybe it's a good start for future projects🤔

@CrunchyCrobat I doubt this would start a snowball effect of more DC anime. Japan is already burdened adapting its own comics every year. Wit studio probably has their plates full as well. But you're right in that Isekai is extremely popular in Japan rn, and is probably the only way this got made otherwise. It's still a bit disappointing.

Those Marvel anime that Madhouse produced were just straight up bad, I wouldn't be surprised if they unsuccessful.

@musicbychoc Idk what I would need to wait for, though. Even if it's good and I enjoy it, it's still Isekai Suicide Squad, which I'm a bit disappointed by. I don't think there's anything wrong to express that. It's not like I'm already ruling it out as a bad product.

What Marvel Madhouse anime?

Madhouse in the early 2010's made 4 anime based on marvel

Iron man

Wolverine

X men

And blade

Iron was not so bad, just felt like another iron man story

Wolverine was boring, they stretched it way too long

And xmen was actually pretty good, it was just the kind of xmen story you would expect

Blade I didn't watch, cause I am not a big fan of him

But they did the characters pretty good, they were accurate, and I feel like it's much better watched in dub to get the authentic feeling, the VA's for the dub were pretty good, I really do not understand what's so bad about it thata makes them worse than any of the other adaptations of them

Anime industry doesn’t care one bit about comic books they’re just doing this for some quick cash combining a huge ip with the already popular isekai genre. I doubt there is going to be any form of quality in this show

I would rather not see comic book adaptations in anime tbh. The marvel and dc stuff in Hollywood has already burned me out of any of that stuff

The burden of adapting actual comics should lie with western studios, not Japanese. I understand your desire tho, since they seemingly don’t care to actually adapt anything, and instead just run with their own thing. Never bringing the great comic stories to life seems foolish.

they also released a couple of movies in the "Marvel anime world," though I wouldn't call any of the Marvel anime good. But I agree from what I watch Wolverine is by far the worst.

How do you adapt stuff like Blackest Night? There's a ton of prequel content to that.

Also, DC animated movies already do pretty good, no need to branch it out to the anime side.
