I'm sorry, but what is this? Are we really going to get any more Go-Toubun content? Hasn't anime already covered everything it can? Or did they really decide to adapt the routes?

In the Japanese announcement trailer that I saw, it was described as *風太郎と五つ子の新婚旅行編* which translates to *Fuutarou and the quintuplets honeymoon trip arc*.
This is new content from Haruba-sensei!

How should I know? This is a new story arc. So only the production team knows.

Generally, MAL does not indicates the source of the entry, but the one of the entire franchise there instead.
Kinda stupid, but that removes them the bother to check from where the content adapted is from.

It's said to be an original story, so it should be "Original".
If you meant of the franchise, then it is "Manga", as the 5-toubun no Hanayome franchise originate from the Manga.

I'm so glad there's a sequel (especially since I'll be seeing more of the adult Yotsuba) but the plot is a bit weird, I mean how do they all go on their honeymoon together, and what exactly can we see now that the love debate is over?

@RobertBobert Thats what I said no? Also it will be author canon, as Negi himself is writing the story.

I suspect this wont be anything major and just some more fluff. Negi prolly got roped into making this for more money for the production team.

@MegamiRem You just don’t know how many people in the anime fandom, not just the fandom of THIS particular anime, who think that everything that wasn’t in the manga is filler. Even if the author himself invented and wrote it.

@MegamiRem Because I felt it necessary to point out that this is objectively canon in any case. I had enough of arguments with dudes who even called anime big finals “fillers” just because it went further than the manga.

Again? But I thought the story was already finished?! 🤔

TL;DR: I haven't read the msgs above.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Yes but it's a original story for a already existing thing
Bang dream it's my go it's a original anime, yet it have the mixed media because it came from a game franchise

I'm conflicted on this news. I really enjoyed my time with Quintuplets and am happy to hear more content is coming.

But I also don't understand where they go with this show.

(1) They pad out the existing story with more interactions between Fuutarou and all the girls. If you enjoyed Yotsuba, maybe you'll like seeing more interactions between them but everyone else will just experience pain knowing that Fuutarou already made his decision.
(2) They somehow backpedal somewhat to give the other girls a glimmer of hope. Yotsuba wasn't my favorite character but that was the story chosen. Without a full re-write to account for multiple routes, I don't see how they could do this justice.

(1) feels like milking the show. (2) feels like milking it but also a disservice to the original plot line.

I'd rather animation studios focused on the large amount of shows that need continuation of their source material (and there's been more I've watched since then!) than continue to pad out this completed show. Obviously, the industry will go where there is money but still disappointed this is what happened.

The first release was the Manga, but it was planned from the start, and announced at first, that it'll be a multi-media franchise, with Mangas, Novels, Games, IRL concert, Musics, ect.

Cyberpunk's source is currently Game, so it's still coherent, and same for Gundam : The Witch From Mercury's one, which is Original.

@RobertBobert The source material purists for any media are like that which is nothing new and you can't change the opinion of genenral public. Also while original animes like this are advertised as supervised by og author you can never really tell to what extent that is true so there's also that.

@MegamiRem One way or another, it all depends on what the result turns out to be. Perhaps this will actually be an original anime epilogue for the series

@MegamiRem By the time the festival arc started, Negi knew who was going to be Fuu's choice, but had no idea how to get there, so IMO, he winged the rest of it. Rereading the Biodad chapters and the post confession chapters became pure cringe. He could've rewritten those 10-12 chapters, added another 20 chapters, and in doing so flesh out Yotsuba's character, and maybe even taken Itsuki out of the Friendzone.

As for stretching it to infinity, Negi's doing a pretty good job with games and merch, no? :' )

@tywhoppity Didn't he mean that even at the beginning of story he knew who would win? Not to mention, writers usually talk about the final draft when they get serialized. I mean, there's a reason why he was so angry when the editor demanded he name Itsuki as the first girl.

@tywhoppity Lol you just literally proved my point that he could have easily made more chapters but he didn't. He wanted to end the manga in his way and he did it. There's many wsj, wsm popular mangas that kept releasing or is still releasing chapters just for the sake of it.

As for milking it with merch and games, no. Authors don't go around making merch and games, they can't even if they want to but ultimately has the final say in it (probably), yes. Now who wouldn't want to passively earn money. It's not like it affects the story in any way and the fans are very happy to have more stuff from their favourite series so I don't see the harm at all. Also it's not just about money either, who wouldn't be happy to see their work getting adapted into games and stuff.

@MegamiRem Well, I know of at least 2-3 examples where the release of games based on LN/manga was essentially an author's bonus for those who, for some reason, were not satisfied with the ending of the story.

I cannot, underline cannot believe they're doing this. Adopting the most insulting part of the manga's finale. It's bad enough that we had that stupid bride game at the end, now we're getting this. The other quints joining Fuutarou and Yotsuba on their honeymoon trip.

To do what? Make sure they get the deed done properly? Hell, in the manga they followed them when they went on their first date, and probably did with every other date they just make sure that everything went right(or maybe they were waiting for an opportunity for them to break up so one of them could sweep in and take Fuutarou for themselves). Or maybe they're just using the whole honeymoon to have "One last special moment with Fuutaoru!" before finally moving with their lives? Because clearly they never got over him during the five year time skip.

I understand that they're sisters and want to share and do everything together but come on! Show some restraint! Where is their pride?! Do they not have any shame? Do they have any idea how rude and disrespectful they're being to Fuutarou and Yotsuba? This is supposed to be a special time between just the two of them and the others are just butting in under the excuse of, "It's okay! We're sisters!" I can't imagine any real life person being okay with this. This is just another example of the quints treating Fuutarou like he's some sort of valuable object rather than a human being. This isn't being made for The Quints fans. It's being made for all the Harem fans.

You know, whenever I think of how the quints act so selfishly towards Fuutarou(going all the way back to when they ditched their penthouse and moved into that one room, rundown apartment) I can't help but wonder how they're mother would've felt if she were still alive. I mean, I like to imagine that she tried to raise her girls to be good, responsible young ladies and what would she see instead? Five horny teenagers chasing after one man's... junk. And I'm using a nice word there.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but when I saw this it took me a while to really accept that they really are going through with this. If it isn't obvious already it's clear they're just milking this series for how little it's really worth instead of moving on to something else. But hey, as long as it makes money who really cares, right? Yeah, right.

@RobertBobert LMAO! I should've guessed! What else could it have been? That Super Sentai manga of his is the whole reason why(at least I believe) The Quints manga failed.

A lot of people seem to believe that The Quints ended poorly because it was rushed due to a deadline, along with the fact that Negi was expecting his first child and he might've been feeling "worn out". I don't buy that one bit. Given how popular The Quints was there was no reason to rush it. If anything Kodansha would've wanted more, and there was [i]plenty[i] of things Negi could've done, such as giving Yotsuba an actual character arc instead of portraying her as a damsel in distress who had to be rescued by Fuutarou because without him her life has no meaning.

There were also a lot of unanswered questions that he could've expanded the story on. Such as...

1. Why does Maruo hate Fuutarou so much? Remember how he blatantly said it out loud but it was never explained why? Some people even wondered if there was some kind of connection between the two given how similar they looked. That could've been an interesting thing to explore. Speaking of Fuutarou...

2. How about exploring Fuutarou's own past? What was his life like before his mother died? We only got to see a flashback of him meeting Yotsuba whereas we get a real good picture of how hard life was for the quints when their mother was alive. If you scour through the entire manga Fuutarou never talks about his past. He never even mentions his mother(except very briefly in a scene with Itsuki), the one connection he has with the quints because he lost his mother before they lost theirs. If Negi had taken the time to explore Fuutarou further as he did with the quints(even Yotsuba) his character would've significantly improved instead of the emotionless robot that we got.

3. Who is the Biodad? What exactly happened between him and Rena? And speaking of which...

4. How about going into Rena's past? What was she like when she was a teen? Did she have a dream that she never got to pursue because she suddenly got pregnant? How about having the Quints meet some of Rena's old friends? That could be part of Yotsuba's arc too. Have her realize that there's more to life than just being by Fuutarou's side. Have her really start to think about her life and what she wants to do with it.

These are just some of the things Negi could've done but Negi decided not to. How do I know this? Because I remember back when the manga was coming to a close that Negi announced on his Twitter page that he wanted to do a 30+ volume Super Sentai manga, the very one you mentioned above. I also remember how he was complaining that The Quints manga had gone on far longer than he wanted it to and that he wanted to end it after Fuutarou made his choice.

So consider this. If 14 volumes were too long, why did Negi suddenly announce that he wanted to do a 30+ volume Super Sentai manga? And if 14 volumes was too short, why did he fill the last volume with such pointless crap instead of things that actually mattered?

My belief on what really happened was that Negi had simply grown bored of The Quints. He didn't want to do it anymore and he wanted out. He wanted to do something else but couldn't because he had to finish The Quints first. Kodansha couldn't convince him otherwise so they let it happen, hence the rushed ending. And ever since then Negi has distanced himself from this manga, only getting involved when he's obligated too. If the Big Bug of 2020 hadn't happened I imagine he would've started on his Super Sentai story a lot sooner. He probably would've dropped The Quints entirely had it continued during that year.

Yes, I know he had a lot of other things going on at the time and that he probably was exhausted from being overworked, but in the end it's not an excuse. Negi had an obligation to deliver and he failed to do that. That's why so many fans, including myself, are still pissed off to this day and this new anime is just adding insult to injury.
"You talk too much. Think too much."
"I don't care how justified you think your reasons are. I won't tolerate liars or thieves."
"If you're not going to be nice to me, don't expect me to be nice to you."
"I'm a soldier, not a superhero. Don't ever think of me as one."
"The world doesn't revolve around you. Get that through your thick skull."
"People who live by their emotions go nowhere in their lives. They only find misery.
"If you don't like the way your life is than do something about it instead of sitting there feeling sorry for yourself."
"You want something go get it. Period."

Happy to watch more 5-toubun I guess. Would like to see a harem or omnibus ending.

I played the recent Nintendo Switch translated game and was able to get omnibus ending that way at least. "Memories spent with you" or something.

I mean, he's going to spend his honeymoon with Yotsuba, the other sisters are still single and come on the honeymoon because they still have feelings for Fuutarou, from then on he should just fuck all five of them and be done with it.

Harem ending, everyone's happy.
