Well more specifically CloverWorks used to be called A-1 Pictures Kouenji Studio, so they literally were the same company, they are just split now. clw isn't under a-1 pictures
Also fun fact, the current A-1 Pictures that we know, never animated Darling in the Franxx, it was all CloverWorks, just under a different name for the first few episdoes, until they changed names midway through the show.
