No time to weep, let's move on.

The National Firefighter Rescue Technique Tournament, which both Shun and Daigo are fighting for, Yuki has to do so the same as her first mission in Fire Company M as an individual. And this is what both and 25-year-old fire sargeant Altonen Toyomu are signed up for, as they try to hack the system to get a glimpse of what they're in for.

Together with the Fuwa Fire Station chief 50-year-old Itou Tsugiharu, he likes to take it easy, but Captain Yamagami doesn't take the easy route out, since their goal is to beat Shougadani Rescue. Despite the training, Daigo doesn't see that as a competition, but rather something to "let off steam" for rescue missions that they do on a daily basis, and not something to be taken as a "we'll beat our rivals"
kind of rhetoric.

From a young age, Daigo has been trained to deal with matters, though coincidently meeting Sergeant Matoi Sadaie of Shougadani Rescue to rescue civilians getting caught by simple fire to thankfully only render minor burns, this man may be no joke, but now he knows that Daigo is no mere simpleton.

The rescue competition heats up as the day draws near.

I don't care what other people say about this anime, it's a gem! "Stop, drop and roll" is a good technique to put out a fire if your clothes are burning. And I love how Daigo emphasized the importance of having a tournament between fire departments--goes to show that firefighters are simply humans too

It's nice to see that the girl will have more opportunities now, also having your jacket on fire eh, it's true that the more you move the more easily the fire spread

The recap is getting a bit annoying. Now why Yuki needs to enter the individual rope bridge traversal discipline and comes first as her first mission for Fire Company M. Plus she is now an Assistant Fire Sergeant. Thus she outranks Shun and Daigo. Fire Sergeant Matoi from Shougadani Rescue is one heck of a firefighter that can even outruns Daigo in a sprint from behind.
