Did they mess up the anime with Linze magic?

So simple question.
Season 1 we are told Linze has 3 magical affinities, and we actively observe her casting Fire, Water, and light magic.
In season 2 they head out to take down a monster that has eyes that can petrify anything it sees. Touya uses "flash" light magic, but Linze uses "Blinding sand" earth magic.
We also know Touya is the only one who has earth affinity as it is proven as he was the only one who could open the door where the Phrase/Fraze is.
Was this an anime adaptation error or a writer's error?

That’s not what ruined s2. What DID ruin it tho was the extreme lack of sticking to the story and a desperate need to just show the girls in the harem and nothing else

It's like using the right or left hand for writing some using the right hand some of them use the left hand, there might be several reasons being the dominant hand, prefers that hand, or is good with the hand.

Same goes for magic even if they have the same affinity they were trained by the same person still they would most probably use magic in different ways being better at that magic then others or they were not able to think another way.
