That's stupid.

Kirari said she would give Tsugiko the money on chapter 103, "not for the stone, but for what you will 'do'", so what's up with this retcon where Kabura lent the money and she has the stone? Not only that, she is asking Yumeko to pay for the loan fee even though it was Tsugiko that got that debt? It doesn't work like that.

Not only that Tsugiko was awake the whole time as Kabura explained the fee thing, why didn't she say: "I am the one supposed to pay that fee, not Yumeko, her money is clean, I'm the one in debt"?

I think it's implied that Tsugiko changed her mind or Kabura somehow made a deal with Kirari. Pretty sure we're supposed to be confused about how this happened.

You're absolutely right about the debt part. Other than some weird rule where the entire family was in debt, I can't see why Kabura would be able to force Yumeko into a gamble. Maybe she just wants to rescue her aunt? The point about Tsugiko being able to remove Yumeko from the situation is spot on though. This seems somewhat nonsensical.

The chapter was great though, I'm happy that Kabura gains importance again. I really love her style. Overall this flashback has been all about how people exploit each others weaknesses. The plotting is awesome.

It was disturbing to see her play on Yumeko's emotions and a striking parallel to how Yumeko manipulates the students at Hyakkao. I guess you gotta learn it somewhere.

Oh baby I'm having fun!

Edit: After rereading, it's pretty obvious that getting the snake-eye back was just a catalyst for Kabura to get into conversation with Yumeko. At that point, Tsugiko knew this was not about technicalities, if she wanted Yumeko to not gamble against Kabura, she'd have to convince her to decide against it (hence the "I don't need the stone"). Yumeko wanted to help her aunt, but the prospect of another match then replaced that motivation. A little "it's not even your debt to begin with" would've changed nothing.
