I already read the manga, I'm at volume 21, but I want to watch the anime with my dad, and I watched the first episode, it is absolutely atrocious, what the hell is that? Please, tell me it's going to change, because I'm usually not too against CGI but seriously sometimes their face is just... I just can't stop staring at it and their expressions are completely empty, so, does it changes in the next episodes/seasons?

From what I remember, the first season is extremely heavy on the CGI, 2nd season still used a lot of CGI but it wasn’t as bad. However, in the 3rd and 4th season they stopped using CGI and both seasons were a great watch.

Sadly you gotta stick through 38 episodes of the abomination, season 2 improves but still has some, and seasons 3&4 are a drastic overhaul of animation, and look really good in my opinion. Improved at the perfect time, for whats regarded as the best arc in the series, and even best war arc in manga, period, by many.

S3 and S4 have very little CGI so if you can bear with it , it definitely pays off

The first arc in season 1 particularly has awful CGI, after about episode 12 or 13 the animation although still CGI, improves exponentially (not as wacky) . You get use to it and you'll find that the animation is appropriate for this type of the show, some moments even are actually enhanced because of the CGI. Season 2 has a mixture on both CGI and 2D with the CGI mostly being used in battles. Season 3 and 4 drop the CGI completely.

it starts to disappear partially by the end of season 1, but it takes until season 2 for them to redisgn the characters to not look like video game potatoes🥔😱. And even then, they still cheap out on the graphics for unimportant large-scale battle scenes until season

it was worth waiting through the pain though.

Season 1 was ruined badly by the Horrible CGI. even conversation scenes are CG. But I can assure you that when you watch the first episode of season 2,You'll just go "WOW!!". the intensity of this exclamation is gonna increase even more when you start season 3. So, Hang in there for atleast 38 episodes....
