Warning: I you haven't watched Episode 6 yet, do it before reading any further to avoid potential spoilers.
Also warning: a lot of text ahead.
I have autism myself (Asperger Syndrome to be exact), and I have noticed a lot of stuff in the 6th episode that point towards Li Tianxi maybe having some sort of autism.
First of all, the parents talked about her maybe going to a special education school.
We also found out this episode that she has selective muteness.
According to my research, selective muteness can often occour to young children with autism (especially aspergers).
She still has problems talking to people (also she whispers instead talking normally) except when she feels save (according to herself), like around Cheng Xiaoshi (we don't know why yet).
She also took off her hood and even her mask for a short moment, but only when he is the only one around.
There are also many other details.
She is very wary of her sorroundings. She doesn't like it at all when someone else might listen to them or watch over them.
She notices little details, like that Wang Juan arrived shortly after she requested to go to the restroom, meaning that someone else was listening to them.
Also the way she described how she experiences things is exactly like many people with autism describe it.
Like how she hears things differently or she feels uncomfortable when people look at her.
Also the way she acts and thinks point towards that.
Like that she only likes trustworthy people, and that her trust can probably easily be destroyed. She values mutural trust a lot. Which is, again, a thing that can be often observed with a lot of people with autism (myself included).
The way she frisked Cheng Xiaoshi was also really weird. Suddenly she got in some weird unnecessary physical contact with him.
While many people with autism might avoid close physical contact, many only do it around people they like and feel save around (which she does around Cheng Xiaoshi for some reason).
Some even seek out physical contact with people they like, which often is weird and uncomfortable to those people.
When I was young, I knew a girl with autism.
While I usually avoided physical contact, she specifically seeked out physical contact with me (like suddenly hughing or even kissing), just because she liked me. I was also told she does this to others sometimes as well.
So again, something that points towards it.
Also there is another little detail, and thats her suddenly burping very loudly.
People with autism tend to have problems knowing, which things not to do or say around other people.
Altough this isn't proof that she might be autistic, it's one of many things that point towards that.
Also her parents tried to cure, whatever she has, with medicine
In China, it is still often believed that autism can be cured (which it cannot), with things like medicine and therapy.
Altough therapy and medicine can help, but cannot cure it.
So I cannot be 100% certain if they actually tried to cure her potential autism. They appearently don't even know what she has.
After you read all of this (if so, respects to that), what are your thoughts on this?
I am also especially interested what other people with autism think.
Half the reason you have is because of the plot.
Of course she doesn't want the police recording and filming her, of course she will notice the policewoman coming to keep a closer eye on her.
She may have autism, but you're seeing too much.
And also, her "selective muteness" may not be selective at all. There's the possibility that when she talks is actually her brother using her body.
My theory is that Tianxi was actually possessed by her brother so her unusual behavior is actually because of his yet to be known motive. But if I’m wrong I think your theory might have some truth to it, mainly because of the way she explained her selective mutism. Interesting

her being possessed by her brother is a possibility.
But what I think really points towards it, is how she described how she experiences things differently.
That what she said immediately hit with me, because it's exactly like I experience things differently.
Also I know/knew some other people with autism who would describe it similary.
Also in China, many people are misinformed about autism, or don't even know at all that it's a thing.
So her medical threatment and the Special Education School stuff can explained with this.

her being possessed is a possibility.
But what I think is odd, is just how many things point towards it.
When she described how she experiences things, it really hit with me, since I know exactly how that feels.
Maybe I am just reading too much into it, but it would be really weird to add stuff like this to her character.
Her describing how she feels about dogs barking or people looking at her would then be unnecessary.
I am just saying it points towards her being autistic, not that I think that she definitely is.
(also she didn't necessarily have a problem with the police woman wanting to watch over her, but the main problem was that she just noticed that they there listening to their conversation, because she arrived at this exact moment. That other guy even said that he might send her over too early)

Did you consider that her sensibility may be a consequence of her powers?
That is what I thought too as an autistic person, however there may be other reasons to it, we will have to wait and see. Otherwise I am inclined to believe she is autistic; with how she 'senses things differently', and how she is selectively mute as a child.
She might not "officially" be autistic, but my friends and I were discussing and thought of this too. The way a lot of her characteristics are described (as OP lists out) hints strongly at it.
In general, people in east asia are less-informed about autism, and I thought it was a nice touch for the series to include this in a subtle manner to shed light on it for the domestic audience. I don't think "Tianxi is autistic" will be a central plot point in itself, but more so that it'll influence how she acts and interacts with the rest of the cast.

agree. I think it would be nice if they would represent people with autism.
Especially so that people can better understand how they feel.

yeah we have to see.
My assumption is only based on the last few episodes.
Tbh, until episode 6, I didn't even think that she might be autistic.
But once she described how she experiences things differently, this idea came into my mind.
Then things from before also made a lot more sense.
Maybe I am just wrong, but it would be really nice to include an autistic character, not only to make the audience aware of it, but to help people to understand autism more.
If she actually is supposed to be autistic, then the way they presented it so far would be really accurate.
Again we will see.
I just hope I am right with my assumption.

If you yourself are on the autism spectrum and you’ve seen everything in this character that you wrote down, chances are you are right even if it’s never stated in the show or the writers didn’t even fully intend it. I’m mildly on the spectrum, and I’ve seen features like these in other anime characters and Western cartoon characters myself (one of my personal favorites is Kotomi Ichinose from Clannad) - it’s things like this that always help remind me of myself and some other people I know.
Really neat attention to detail - both on the writers’ part and yours. :)
If we consider the fact that her father has always been abusive or has shown signs of it, then it could be a reason she chose to be "selectively mute".
It's not important that she needs to have autism for that. I don't really have a clear image of what autism is, but I sure know that they perceive the world differently and hear the slightest of sound at a very high level and many more factors.
Just because Tianxi was sensitive to sound doesn't prove that tho. She was just afraid of it in my opinion not even sensitive.
And the theory that ya'll are coming up with that It could be her brother that's controlling her can also very much he true. I'm in the favour of it. Although, still, we don't have any prove😅 so...we'll just have to wait!
