The official website of B's Log Bunko announced a television anime adaptation of Izumi Ookido's Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo: Akuyaku Reijou ni Naru hodo Ouji no Dekiai wa Kasoku suru you desu! (I'll Become a Villainess That Will Go Down in History: The More of a Villainess I Become, the More the Prince Will Dote on Me) light novel on Wednesday.

Ookido began penning the fantasy romance novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in December 2018. Kadokawa acquired the novel and published the first volume under its B's-LOG Bunko imprint in August 2019, featuring illustrations by Jun Hayase. The fourth was released in September 2022, and the fifth volume is scheduled to be released on August 12. The series has over 850,000 cumulative copies of its volumes in circulation.

Akari Hoshi began serializing a manga adaptation in B's-LOG Comic magazine in May 2020. Kadokawa published the third volume in September 2022, and the fourth volume is set for a August 12 release.

Synopsis
Alicia is the eldest daughter of the noble Williams family—a bloodline that excels in dark magic. Her jet-black hair and golden eyes command a powerful presence, but her most unique features are, without a doubt, her sharp tongue and malevolent nature. By all means, she is a villainess, but also a fictional character from an otome game!

As an ardent admirer of Alicia, a young, unnamed woman wishes to be her. Fortunately, a sleepy truck driver grants her wish in a bizarre twist of events—killing and consequently reincarnating her as a seven-year-old Alicia inside the game. With sufficient knowledge of how the game plays out, "Alicia" is confident that she will go down as the greatest villainess in history as long as she endeavors to work hard. However, she soon begins to realize that escaping Alicia's fate is not so simple as it seemed. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Hell yeah to more Villianess anime!!!!!

I did not read the light novel, but I did read 10 chapters of the manga adaptation. I'm so excited about the anime adaptation!

Edit: I reread the currently scanlated 10 chapters of the manga. The gimmick of this story is that the MC opposes the original "saint" female protagonist's naive ideal political views with Machivelism(?). Like MC proposes making an economically-troubled neighboring country into a tributary state instead of providing foreign aid. She dismisses the saint's idea of egalitarian society as an "unrealistic fantasy."

At the same time, she helps out an impoverished village. She opposes the oppression of talented people who don't have magic (in this world, magic is a requirement for nobility). She strives towards improving her swordsmanship, her knowledge towards herbs, and her magic. She just really doesn't like the saint's goody-two-shoes attitude.

The manga really appeals to the female power fantasy, which is being a real bad bitch lmao.

So, at first most of the male-focused anime became isekai, and now most of the female-focused anime has become a villainess show? God, how strong are these trends in Japan?

What gets me is that, when it's a male character in isekai, it's bad, but when it's a female mc, people now think it's ok. They're literally the same thing.

There is still a difference due to genre nuances, but yes. When the same people find Bakarina to be a funny satire but Konosuba to be "stupid wish fulfillment for boys", it seems strange.

Give it a couple of years. Villainess isekai seem to be as overdone as OP harem isekai, so I'm sure you'll see more dissenting opinions over time.

I'm pretty sure that Otome Villainess Isekai trope will eventually become so overused and then obnoxious as a result, just like isekai. If it isn't already.

Come on isekai writers, at least try and make your premise at least slightly different to your predecessors. This is literally just the generic villainess isekai premise without so much as a hint of originality.

I'm pretty sure this same synopsis is shared by every other work with "villainess" in its title.

Hopefully they use the same voice actor as the Drama CD.
Atsumi Tanezaki and Yuuma Uchida play a lot in the same anime.

So the prince is more or less an M? 🤔
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
