Ok the kid of the two MCs fine, but damn they even got the love interest to look like a gyaru version of his mom and then the knock-off Tao Ren?

That's what happened with Boruto - every child is a copy of the parents.

Shikaku, Shikamaru and Shikadai are literally the same person. Same goes for the rest of the cast. This has also been my complaint with such sequels - there is very little effort for differentiation from the past and cutting ties with the past.

Instead it's just a rehash or a recycling of the old. This is also what I don't get - what kind of audience watches Shaman King Followers and Boruto? Are they the same people who watched the original Shaman King and Naruto or are they a newer, younger audience? Because I watched the originals and after learning what the sequels are about, I have no desire or interest to watch the sequels.

It feels like the creators of those works anime/manga and the viewers who watch it live in something like mass delusion or mass psychosis where they enjoy making themselves believe this is something new, original or interesting when it really isn't. It's just milking of the old, popular and successful original, when deep down the creators know the sequels are inferior in every aspect.

Anyone who has played the Heroes of Might and Magic III and II games from New World Computing and has seen the sequels made by Ubisoft, knows how much inferior and boring and worse the Ubisoft games are compared to HoMM3 and HoMM2.

So in other words, you are not alone feeling there is something wrong with this and good on you for noticing it and pointing it out so more people can be aware about these shams.

@Allwynd I can forgive Kishimoto and Toriyama to an extent. Naruto and Dragon Ball became massive billion dollar franchises so they just licensed out the sequels to the publishers and they just found some random author to continue it. They don't even write it and just collect royalties.

But Shaman King... is there even a market for this franchise? The author is just ruining his series, he should move on from Shaman King already to something else.

You know what’s crazy? Shaman King flowers isn’t even the end there is a sequel manga to this one that’s still running. Who in 2023 is still interested in shaman king sequels how are these manga even getting published 😂

@Allwynd Been playing a lot of Heroes III lately and this sentiment couldn't have had better timing. Fully agree.

@WalterBlack59 I really like Shaman King, and don't think about Flowers and Super Stars the same as about Boruto.
I like idea of shaman of different religion and ghosts from different eras. And it still have the same art and feel, that main series had.

Boruto in other hand is ugly. Every character looks like he just back from fashion show. And previous badass characters are lame now.
Here we get young generation, and previous one are only mentionet, or show from time to time. And the idea of Flower of Maize, the war between previous Shaman Kings, that not agree with curent one sounds interesting.
