I was watching episode 3 in which we found out kiriko's backstory and how they have the brain of a man. I found myself quite uncomfortable with the scene and idea that Haruki's brain was transplanted into another body. Im curious why this may be? I've had similar experiences before with other media in which a character finds themselves no longer in their own body or their body has been modified. But this is the first time in ages where I felt this way. Was just curious if anyone else felt the same or have an idea what this reaction is?

I'm guessing you wouldn't want to wake up in a different body? I can't say that it had any personal significance to me.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

I guess in most movies/shows where people switch bodies it is just their consciousness I guess that is swapped whereas this is a literal brain swapping

It was most likely because Mari had romantic feelings for Haruki, and until then we thought it was a normal romance between a boy and girl. But it was probably surprising to find out that Haruki was the mind of a boy. Ofc I’m not trying to be homophobic nor do I have anything against it, but some may just find it uncomfortable as they’re not used to it and don’t know what to think of it

I can see what you mean baha, I was meaning more so uncomfortable about the brain and mind being in another body LOL like uncomfortable as in feeling faint and "sick" thinking about the concept

The sexual sense caught me off guard that’s for sure. Made me a little uncomfortable with how the bad guy there put things that’s for sure but over all a really good anime

Small nitpicking here because it has some importance: Maru has romantic feelings for Kiruko, not Haruki. The whole story about Kiruko is about her identity crisis, so better use the proper name.  :-)
Kiruko may have Haruki's brain but she's a different person.

personally I wasn't too uncomfortable with the scene. But I feel like if it was live action without animation instead, I'd definetly be uncomfortable with it.
So I don't think it's that unusual for you to feel uncomfortable by it.

Ah I just chose to use Haruki’s name because the person Maru fell in love with was Haruki, as that’s the person Maru had been spending time with. But on this topic I was still confused and haven’t figured out whether Haruki literally went into Kiruko’s body or if Kiruko is just having and identity crisis and thinks she’s Haruki

You mix up the names : Haruki is the boy that was almost killed in the past by a maneater and whose brain was transplanted into the body of his sister Kiriko, herself shot in the head. The resulting new person (Haruki's brain in Kiriko's body) called herself Kiruko (a mix of Haruki and Kiriko). And this is the person Maru spent time with and fell in love with.

Oh wow I never noticed that Kiruko was a combination of both names, well that clears up a lot of things lmao

It was weird for me to especially the love he had for his sister and then put in her body gotta be rough but it was an interesting concept so I didn’t hate it in the end

I think this is a very good reaction in fact. Instead of badmouthing the author, you asked yourself why are you disturbed by these scenes.
I wasn't but I can see that I have somewhat a tendency to somewhat "ignore" the fact. Kiruko remained a girl in my eye and I tend to interpret most of the show through the prism that she's slowly accepting that she is a girl now. But that could be just an expression of my own prejudices and some form of conservatism. It's possible that this is not the author's position and I just disregard the hints that disagree with my interpretation. I'll see where it is going in the future but I found interesting that this show forced me to think about my own attitude.
For me, this is a proof of a very good story.

Wait it until r*** thing start happened to all the main characters.
This story is another "Usagi Drop" second half. Starts great, ends being creppy because mangaka has weird fetishes exploiting children with r**** and NTR.

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

Nonsense. Usagi Drop went weird because the characters have a 25 years difference and have had a father-daughter relationship for most of the manga.
This is completely different, what happens in HD is never presented as something positive or desired by the characters, they're just terrible situation that can occur in a world where societies have broken down.
I suspect you haven't watched the story at all and repeating just what you read somewhere else. If not, then indeed watch something else, you're too young for this.
As for the rest of the manga, it is as good as the beginning and quite an enjoyable ride... for the ones who liked what has already been adapted.

Heh, a clown resorting to "muh you too young" to win the argument appeared.
What's up with second potential likeable waifu showing her backstory being 8 years old and being raped by some old creep just after Kiriku got raped?

This crap manga/anime is just bad taste NTR fetish nonsense.

It'll be funny to see reactions of readers seeing confirmation of Kiriko being pregnant with Robins child.

C'mon. We know this show has intentional NTR vibe. Sure, rape happens in real life, just like people fking animals happens.

Doesn't mean it needs to be showed in such a tasteless fashion for shock value.

There's no argument "to win" since you don't have any kind of argument to make. You're just dissing a manga you don't know by resorting to some out of context critics you found on Twitter.
Why you do that is beyond me but I won't bother anyway.
If you had read the manga (and I mean, really read it, not just flipping the pages at great speed to find the scenes you read about on Twitter), you would know that all these scenes have context, explanations and consequences. And all impact the main characters in some way and create characters developments.
Your childish comments just prove to anyone who has read this manga that you have not.
Since I saw your other comments on another thread, it seems quite obvious you did read the manga or at least watched the anime.
Which makes it even weirder for me to see your previous comments on this thread.
It's easy to read this story through the cliché anime / manga tropes (waifu, NTR, all that crap) but that's the easy way out, to avoid facing that all these scenes have context, explanations and consequences. And all impact the main characters in some way and create characters developments. They're not just put there randomly, nor just for shock value, but because it's very likely that they would happen in the context of this story.

You make this anime to look more than it is. There's this thing, when you write, you should know your audience.
Writer can do whatever he wants, yes, his "context" barebone, hard to really say this manga/anime has good quality writing. Random rape scenes and children sexualized is just a bad tone/pointless and unnecessary. But it comes down to experience setting tone and fulfilling viewers expectations. Yes, a good writer should aim to please his viewers. A good story with a climatic fight at the end and all, but who he's trying to please by forcing rape on main "heroine"? Cucks? Who wants to see that? And yes, this anime had a bit of creepy tone, but that episode dialed it to x10.

A good writer knows what's acceptable and what's not in one story or another, it depends on how it is written and how it is focused from A to B to meet viewers expectations.

Bad writer, like this one, stumbles and breaks the tone. Just like Game of Thrones changed it's tone to silliness after season 4 or so. Yes, you can do that, but it's just bad writing.

But what can you expect from cuck writer who writes NTR doujins.

And that's the difference between a good story and crap. Difference between good and crap writer. Good writer knows what to do, crap writer writes his own cuck fetish which nobody wants to read. I doubt this anime gets S2. Don't think it was popular, but anime industry is desperate to televize any crap they find, because nobody makes good mangas anymore. (90% of them are kid shows nowdays)

I skipped the rest of your rant, apart from making claims without any substance apart from the fact that you disliked the scenes, you indeed don't have an argument.
Your vision of good / bad writing is just what is is: your vision. The one of a random quidam on the net. Its only worth is the one people agree to credit. And so is my own opinion, for that matter.
As for me, not only do I find the writing of this writing very powerful, managing to intricate seamlessly two storylines and perfectly dropping hints here and there allowing to understand the whole picture, I also find the characters' development and relationships very interesting and accurate, particularly the consequences of this rape which are very realistic.
The two scenes that obviously embarrass you are very important in my view. They're not shown in a way that make them erotic, it's obvious that the author do not endorse or promote these actions, they are disturbing and rightly so, they happen because there's no way such scenes cannot happen in such a world. Just as we should also be disturbed by the story of several men enslaved and repeatedly raped by armed women and still, surprisingly, I don't see any complain about that. This shows that people are very selective about what they react to. There has been in this story a woman cut in pieces by a monster, an euthanasia situation, a boy eaten by a monster, the world destroyed and billions of death and many other horrors and yet you focus on two scenes, as if the rest of the story was a walk in the park.
Know your audience, you said? The writer does, it's seinen, it's for adults.

Never seen any reference to that. Nothing on Mangadex and "'Ishiguro Masakazu doujin" on Google doesn't yield anything meaningful.
In any case, if you write a gore story, that doesn't mean you endorse the contents of it. You just write it because you feel there is an audience for it.
What I meant here is that the way the scenes are written in HD do not show any more than needed insistence on the victim suffering, which is a significant difference with for instance your Game of Throne reference. What is shown is the minimum necessary to allow for the information to pass and no more (same for violent scenes).
