Summer break has come, and the concert practice continues after the temporary exam break, though Aono is fixated on the piece itself. When the associate concert master of 3rd Year Machii Mizuki asks him any questions to be forwarded to Harada if he has any queries. Aside from Harada cracking a joke from Ayukawa's request to calm the entire orchestra down, the concert piece "From the New World" of Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, 1st Movement, begins its groove.

Trying to sound in sync together is a tough job for a conductor, and the further the entire orchestra goes, the harmonization gets lost in the track, and as the concert master, Harada begins to give everyone the cue to follow, which is what Machii told Aono to trust in him. Knowing that the 3rd Years have limited time once the concert ends, Aono approachesHarada, but he's swarmed by the others, and turns to Machii instead, who stops him in his tracks to have a break first. She and Aono are kindred spirits, though the former likes to read to relax, and Aono, on his way to become the next concert master, she understands his issues to focus on inustrumentals, which aside from Aono's mother having once played the piano, Machii once played the viola when she already mastered the violin back in her own community's orchestra club. Understanding that an orchestra is made up of many parts which have its own distinctive sound, it's that sound which when unified, sounds majestic as one. Her suggestion to Aono: try listening to the other sounds, and that is the suggestion to progress further.

And so it is, Aono calling Yamada for a favour, but sneaking out of the house, his mother has cooked breakfast for him before he goes to school, which he has his practice with the viola player from the promise back in the music store. Of course, Yamada senses Aono's intent to harmonize with him, though he has one favour from him: to remain as Saeki's rival, not just that Yamada knows him well from his middle school days, and the practice doesn't go unsighted with Saeki, whom his practice with Kozakura will help spur him forward. Harada inviting Aono to see the practice of the section leaders' stringed instruments, it's a privilege.

Practice makes perfect.

I liked Machii and Aono's conversation this episode, felt quite heartfelt in a way, and Aono learned some things from that. I was also wondering when Haru and Akine would show up again, and a couple minutes later, speak of the devil, there they were, but man, do they feel relegated to being the side characters now. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing at the moment.

Another side note, I found it very amusing that Aono's mom cooked bacon, eggs, and a croissant for him. That was literally my usual breakfast when I was a kid, and my grandmother was taking care of me. Just a personal thing that got me to chuckle a bit.

Great episode! Loved Machi and Aono’s conversation. Really helped screw aono head on correctly. I hate that Haru and Akine are relegated to side characters lately tho

The idea that everyone in the orchestra could be positioned such that they could pick up visual clues from anyone other than the conductor is ludicrous.
This isn't the first time they've said this was part of the Harada magic.
The concert stage is flat.
They are all sitting down (we haven't seen a percussion section, have we; they'd be at the back.)
Far too many members of the ensemble will have no line-of-sight to where he is seated.

Thanks to his seniors advice aono is trying to understand the other members sound and their personality and harmonize with them so that he could become a perfect leader for the orchestra.

I thought Akine would not have airtime. They really had to just add in her in the end lol.

Almost no one discussing this show. I'm aware the production isn't the best, but I think it's serviceable.

It feels there was a lot of developments this episode. Aono finally having a clue on how to be a better player in an orchestra and also how to start gaining the skill to be a leader, thanks to his senpai, Machii.

Also Yamada finally put back in the action, with him and Aono having their first practice together, they both learned a lot by listening more to how one from another instrument line plays the same composition.

It was a fun episode but it also looks like there will be drama in the next.

I enjoyed the chapter, is good that aono is reaching others and we get to know more of the characters in the orchesta. So since harada wasn't available instead of giving up he went to the second best with machii and she teached him well, nice conversation they had. Then was yamada, it was kind of mean that they didn't let saeki in but I guess it will work out since saeki reached haru.

Harada senpai can really pull everyone together and guide them. Hajime has to learn a lot from watching him if he wants to become the next concert master. Btw really liked Machi senpai focus and her interactions with Hajime, need more of her. Akine screentime has been really little lately.

I thought Hajime would've asked about music imagery but I guess blending was more immediate. Lucky for him Machii-senpai gave him a comprehensive answer.
It's bad enough that Hajime doesn't want to remember his dad but it seems like his dad teaching him as a soloist made him insular instead of being able to blend well with an orchestra. Or it could just be that quitting for ~2 years stunted his natural growth compared to his peers.

Haru needs to stop beating around the bush & properly reconnect with Hajime though.
