I watch all that above 8.0 and the other with more than 100,000 votes. But I do not know what to do with anime below 5.5 and with 100,000 votes. These people are crazy to watch this crap, except if it is my favorite genre. Do not look for reviews and do not ask someone for recommendations ever.

If you have time, watch them all.
If you don't, just choose those you feel that you will like.

I guess I catch up when I hit 67 and will retire. Even with my choosing system, there are up to 20 anime per anime season. And I drop only very bad and boring anime. I am very patient but I have 3 drops for a 100 completed anime. That is the point - how do I know which of them I like? Maybe reviews and recommendations will help, but as for now, I will not use them. Do not want to rely on any but average opinion - statistics for me is above all.

Really, why spend time searching and choosing anime from the current season if you can just watch the whole season...

Checking out lists of new anime every season and comparing your pics to the wider community favorites seems to be the best bet.

Firstly, prioritize the sequels of shows where I watched previous seasons. Second, the ones that look interesting to me based on the visuals/summary. Third, check out the first episodes of a few more to see if anything catches my attention. The only problem comes when there's too many shows I'm interested in airing on the same day. I just get too overwhelmed. Then I'll just wait and binge the others when they're over.

My way:

1) check seiyuu's; if an anime has a favorite voice actor/ess then its worth a look in for sure. Sawashiro and HanaKana are great examples

2) does the cover look cool to me? This is a big factor. if it appeals to me on my otaku radar, than its worth a peep. Figure why not, right?

3) think, "do I care" for the genre- like if its a standard isekai or some other such thing, lookin at my other lineups, "does it give variety" or "do I even care" are all important factors to consider.

Its easier for me to do backlog schedules tbh- but when it comes to seasonals its just easier to consider sequels I'm interested in following, or anything that just looks cool to me based on art aesthetic.

This mindset has lowered my planning to more reasonable numbers and I'm always feeling interested. It also helps if you were a fan of the manga or parent media before an adaptation- makes you curious to follow-through on the show and see how it translated to the new media.

Bout sums it up, I'd say?

Pretty much just looking at the director (if it's someone I've already enjoyed prior or if it's a first-time director). Otherwise would rely either on word of mouth or an absurd enough story concept to at least check out the first episode of.

Typically, just dabble into the general premise of the series and occasionally seeing first impression review to see if the titles in question may be worth dabbling into.

Hm, I basically start watching all relevant shows before slowly dropping them 1 by 1 naturally as I lose interest in some of them. I don't completely drop them tho, just in the backburner since I do return and finish some shows later on.
