Hey bro, I tried to copy-paste one of the BB codes (the one with the music player) into my signature but when I press the paste option the YouTube and Imgur codes don't enter the box. Any idea as to why this is happening? Thanks.

Share the BBCode here, just paste the BBcode you were going to use right here into the comment box and I can look at it. The latest updates over the year have caused too many errors so I need to see the sig code for myself.

As you can see (post #7) I copied the entire BB code for the music player theme, but only this part enters the box. The YouTube and Imgur codes just disappear. I also tried pasting them on MS Word and it works fine there(the whole code appears).

I wouldn't use those. A lot of MAL stuff is buggy, use the right click copy from Windows it's what I use

@Joel77 Seconding what Shishio said, a lot of the new additions are buggy. Are you perhaps using the "live preview" BBCode mode where all the text formatting appears as it will post? When testing it, I was losing the BBCode formatting when pasting it into the live preview same as you describe your issue, but the source mode (which I always use) has no issues with it. Try switching to the source editor with the right-most button and pasting again.

Also, never use MAL's "Copy" button if you want to keep formatting as it only copies plaintext, but it sounds like you didn't do this if it appears properly in MS Word.

Okay, just for clarification this is what I do:
1) First, I go to my profile page and click on the account settings option
2) I then click the forum option (where I can see my forum avatar and just below that is a box with the title 'signature'.
3) With the code I copied from before I just paste it there, but what enters the box is this:

I tried the method you told me, but what happens is my text cursor disappears and I'm unable to insert anything.

Guys I finally did it!!! So I turned off dark mode, and it worked. Phew.

Thanks for the help you two!!! Really appreciate it!!!

Edit : I changed it back to dark mode again and it's fine. I guess the problem was using codes while in dark mode.

I've been trying to compress some GIFs for my signature using https://ezgif.com/resize / https://www.freeconvert.com/gif-compressor but it's hard to trim down the size to 300kb or less without downsizing the GIFs and without losing quality so much. I wish they'd allow greater than 300kb. Well, my GIFs have many frames so that must be it... I wanted to use a clip from an anime which I turned into a GIF. I managed to resize another GIF (from 600x150 px to 250x140 px) into less than 300kb. I was also able to add the GIF in my signature by dragging and dropping the local file from my computer to MAL. I just tried it since I didn't want to bother hosting it on another site and it worked. But as for the other GIF, it's just too big. 😔

@Shishio-kun Nope, I didn't do anything else to the Galaxy Angel sig you optimized for me back in November (other than reduce the dimension a bit to match the exact height and width of the other one) as well as my other sig. Maybe the system converts images automatically now once an image link is pasted or an image is uploaded here? I honestly don't know. Are my GIFs now WEBp? I've no clue. 😅 I can't find the original links for my sigs or where I'm "hosting" them (anyways, I have copies of the images in my computer so I can just upload them somewhere if I ever encounter an issue); I checked here and the links to my sigs now are something like this: https://cdn.myanimelist.net/s/common/bbcode/RANDOMNUMBERSANDLETTERS.

Recently, I noticed that I can now add more characters to my forum sig. Not sure if they increased the maximum characters allowed to 1,300. I feel like they did since I was able to add two more links unlike before. I can't remember the maximum characters allowed back then but I think it was lower than 1,300 as I had a really compressed forum signature then.

@IridescentJaune I looked at your sig's animated images in Inspect Element, and it says they are like around 130kb each. So maybe they are webp on the page but download as GIFs for you?
