| If you read the manga, maybe you'll find the answer but I'll give my point of view. The manga has short chapters where about more than 80% have only 6 pages per chapter that tell a short story and independent of the following story (although there is a continuity of events that occurred). The first episode of the anime is an adaptation of chapters 15.5, 1, 2, 7, 8, and a bit of original stuff. In my opinion it was a good adaptation because: 1) it connected chapters out of order without getting too confused, 2) it improved and increased the time of the scenes in relation to the manga, otherwise this would be another anime with 5-12 minutes per episode |

| Wasn’t this originally a webcomic with just 4 panels per “chapter “? I'm not a fan of webcomics and 4-komas. I read them, but usually get bored quickly. It's the format. Hard to build a good story when the artist is trying to tell it in little one page snippets. This episode was essentially a series of 1-3 minute scenes without much transition from scene to scene. But the animators have done a great job with the Ice Guy. Despite the lack of a story, the initial episode is captivating for the art, romance, and voice acting. And the music is great! Tomo-chan Is A Girl was a webcomic with a similar format. And fixing the pacing, turning it into a regular anime series, will also be a challenge for that director and writers. |

| I really like this kind of pacing. It doesnt feel very slow or very fast for me and I think its nice that its not episodic at all even though its supposed to be an episodic format. This kind of anime style I enjoy a bunch |
