The End?

At the end of the movie you see "The End" and just as it's fading out a question mark is added so I assume there was more to come but considering it's been 13 years since then, I assume it was scrapped but I could be wrong. Does anyone know what that question mark was hinting at or am I looking too deep into things?

There’s a manga for it, pretty sure it’s not translated to English tho. Maybe that goes deeper into the world/continues the story? I’m not sure

This anime is an underrated gem IMO and I wish there was more of it!!
