Wow, Richard is putting it all on the line after the shit he's been through recently. And also, Buckingham keeps his words true to heart as he also fights this episode.

A very tense episode but man, Richard really took on way too much responsibility himself.

Richard has finally learnt the sobering truth: with the Earl of Richmond's help, young Prince Edward of Lancaster is gonna be the next King, with the Duke of Birmingham (Henry) being his kingmaker. And that is warrant enough for yet another impending War of the Roses.

Richard is cornered at every section, and so is his son Edward of York who feels the spite that his father has been betrayed to this very point. And leaving him in his wife Anne's care is probably for the best should he wants to resolve all grievances alone, his body and soul tainted by the one whom he trusts and desires to eventually backstab at him. To Richard and Henry, love triumphs all fear and mongering, but deep within Henry, Richard's offerings are all but naught.

Richard should've realized that Buckingham is no exception to the treason rule, and he's already been labelled a traitor by delving into sexual sin with him to get what he wants for the benefit of Richard, a twisted mindset. And all Richard needs now is the witch Jane Shone to help drown his worries away while Buckingham will be on the chopping block of execution.

Such a sad fate for a demon to be entranced by another demon, and the Duke of Buckingham Henry Tyrrell...died at the hands of the one he loved.

Great episode! It was pretty touching to see when Edward asked to help his father just as Richard once did to his.
And now, who will win, Richard or Buckingham?
Richard gets the upper hand on him but hesitates to kill him which is the same for Buckingham who says he has never dreamed of killing him.
He offers them to live a life together elsewhere and pretend they both died in this battle whilst fighting each other...
Richard refuses however and asks him to flee but Buckingham feels as if a world without him wouldn't be worth anything.
Buckingham gives the ring Richard gave him to Tyrell saying he has no more need for it and he has one last thing to do.
He is captured...
his final request to Catesby is to be executed soon and see Richard one more time...
What a sad end for Buckingham and I can't imagine the pain Richard will feel after this.
'Wait for me in hell.'

Looking forward to the next episode!

Honestly speaking, the romance between Richard and Buckingham didn't convince me at all.
Buckingham slowly becoming deeply passionate about Richard throughout his life felt natural but Richard becoming so quickly and so desperately enamored with this kingmaker reeked of pure phoniness.
Richard's relationship with the previous Henry was noticeably more genuine in my opinion.

i wasn't prepared for Buckingham death lol but well he was able to fulfill his wish and the las picture he saw is Richard so good for him i think.

being honest i din't even like him but damn his death gave me goosebumps and the ending song playing through it made it more touching, seriously loved the drama in the scene.

and Catesby again trying to protect that new place where Richard felt loved.

great episode! looking forward to the next one!

This was sad. Richard had to kill the one who knew him inside-out and never thought of him as a demon. (I won't lie, I thought this was how Catesby would die.)

The episode was intense. I just couldn't predict what would happen next. I was assuming they'd both fake their deaths, and live under an alias, but then they discussed that possibility, and I knew that wouldn't happen.

I wonder why Jane was there. Is Richard planning to kill himself? She seemed to show sympathy, but I don't know much about her to know how to feel about it.

read the manga, it's more obvious that henry loves him in the manga from the start

We do not have the translated version of this scene in the manga so the only thing I'm thankful for in this adaptation is this one episode here. The last we see of Buckingham and Richard. I have too much feels for these two- PLEASE, everyone go read the manga, it's WAYYYYYY better and you'll understand that buckingham has loved richard from the start. I have soooo many screenshots of their interactions i love these two together so much! I'm so sad that the last way he could see richard is this but- UWU WAIT FOR ME IN HELL I KENOT IM BAWLING

You're misunderstanding what I wrote.
I totally get why and how Buckingham ended up madly in love with Richard, what I don't get is why Richard felt in such a passionate love with his kingmaker.
I always perceived Richard's love for Henry VI as genuine, and the same goes for his ill-fated relationships with Edward (Lancaster) and Anne, but his affinity with Buckingham never felt natural to me.

Because the essential scene that show Richard slowly falling for him were mostly cut off from the anime
- In vol.11 they cut the scene where Buckingham helped Richard from his mother abusive act.
- In vol.12 which they cut almost whole volume. It’s where Buckingham slowly and gradually show the gentle and reliable side not just a business or sexual thing but in the spiritual and feeling.
The peak is the summer solstice hunting scene where Richard was nearly death from the assassination plan of the twin princes. (Many characters has showing their development in these scene; Anne and Tyrell also suffered from this cutting too) The scene show Buckingham come to him with the sunlight when Richard wake up from unconsciousness and deep in his nightmare.
With these scene it will make you understand the development of EP.18 where they confess and the development of Richard’s feeling for him.
So if you’re interested please read the manga. The anime didn’t do the resource justice anyway.

I see, thank you very much for explaining in detail the scenes omitted in the anime.

Oh, I thought Richard had already taken it before. I didn't realise he was still pregnant all this time.

Wow... So emotional episode... I hate Buckingham x Richard, but his death by Richard own hand is actually sad...

This episode is actually amazing... From disliking Buckingham to amaze seeing how in love he is with Richard... And he even give the ring to Richard previous 'love'...

Poor Richard, even after becoming a King, he is still in despair... The next title..... No.... Not Anne...

I just couldn't stop crying while watching the episode. I knew what will happen from the manga yet it was again very touching how their love ended and Richard said Buckingham to wait him in the hell.

I'm just glad Buckingham is gone. Richard went from being my second favorite character to being my fourth because I just couldn't stand how he acted around Buckingham. I was reading the manga along with the corresponding anime episodes, and if anything it just made my dislike for Buckingham stronger.

The one thing I am grateful for is that Richard always stood up for his son, even against Buck. He loves his son Edward and their relationship is cute.

well that was messed up. fucking Buckingham, we all knew how goddamn evil he was, this story is devastating. It's also making me really want to read the manga, the art style and coloured pages look wonderful.

what will come of shepherd/mercenary Henry?? poor fortunate soul forgot his entire backstory lol

They need more action and there more drama. Buckingham has died and Richard's heart have become a woman fully.
