After a long trip from Ehime, Ashito has found himself in the Tokyo Esperion Football Club in Tokyo where famed J.League football players all converge on one field.

Ohtomo and Tachibana unsurprisingly passed the tryouts as well, and the trio getting their first-ever autographs to cement their growing future, but one name stands out: Haruhisa Kuribayashi, the diamond potential of the J-Youth team already playing in the First (or A) Team and on the way to Nationals. Meeting Yuma Motoki and Asari Marches Jun of the Youth team that were playing in the selection game plus some others whom passed, getting their individual gear and living in the dorms of famed J.Leaguers, this is what a chance-of-a-lifetime gives you when you start to aim for the top.

Aoi's signature No. 33 jersey, and his roommate is yet another scouted kid who's living with him who mysteriously didn't arrive on time, looking forward to seeing him. For now, the dream comes alive for the chosen entering the Tokyo Esperion Youth Team with the entrance ceremony, the introduction of the various coaches (plus old geezer Fukuda himself). And then...the entrance of center-back biker gang member Keiji Togashi as the other scouted person, both him and Aoi sure are peas in a pod. But keep guard on Togashi, because he's not what you think he is.

Hana is so nice to fix lunch for her wife-less brother, yet he shrugs it off like it's nothing. For his aide Nozomi Date to question Fukuda's super quick stint for an intrasquad match at the hurry, and also about Ashito and his own doctrine of handpicking him that he's the very first scout destined for failure, Hana's kickback to mention herself being his very first fan feels strong.

More than Ashito coincidentally eavesdropping on their conversation, hope this will set Ashito's heart to start his football journey strong.

Lol Ashito’s roommate getting dropped off by a biker gang was lowkey funny af. You can tell this episode is really setting up a tense match next episode. Also nice to see Hana become Ashitos first real fan is gonna play a big motivational role for him if he heard her. This anime is getting better every episode. Sucks we gotta wait weekly for it, that too it’s only 12 episodes…

Thank god cause like lowkey this show won't be as good if its only 12 like I love the pacing but if its 12 surely we can't spend the first 3/4 of the show and not even get to play a proper match

Good to see the boys from the selection tryouts, and even that new guy seemed fine for someone having that kind of appearance. Though that coach with his declaration, Aoi has his hands full from the get go it seems.

Great to see the other two having made it. That new punk guy does seem a bit deceptive to me.

Hana already being Aoi's fan. You go, girl.

Maybe this is too early, but damn those unnamed girl that manage to get those three autographs was low-key lucky, since Aoi will surely have a shiny future, right? Right?

Welcome to the youth team and they sure not wasting much time to introduce all the cast from the ending visual, especially with those punk. Dang he really had those hair style since the beginning and the biker gang too accompanied him goodbye. Must be interesting to know more about him xd.

And for the last thing, Hana was such a sweetheart by saying that big motivational word toward Aoi. Unnamed girl can have his autograph. But Hana can have all Aoi just for herself, as far as the story concern more about their relationship xd. So, let's see if Aoi can answers her declaration by playing a good game on the next intrasquad match...

Hana proving again why she’s the best girl. <3

Aoi’s roommate is quite something, I wonder what his problem with people moving up from the junior youth team is.

The coach was awfully harsh about his expectations of Aoi, here’s to hoping Aoi proves him wrong.

Can’t wait for the game next week, should be great.

Now I'm pretty sure Hana's first crush is Fukuda but it's likely to be an unfulfilled wish because not only they're relative but Fukuda is not active on soccer anymore so she's looking for a new guy with a Fukuda skill and is still active in soccer, which is Aoi. Though the most important of all is that Fukuda doesn't seem to be hurry to fall in love, he already fall in love with soccer, which is a big plus for me. I want a relationship with a guy who abandon all relationship to achieve his goal, the contradiction is very sexy.

Soichirou can confidently speak a line that is so shounenish, like nakama or friendship is magic or so, without feeling cringey, I like straightforward character like him!

Esperion really has everything, I'm glad Aoi is now in an enviroment that fully support his soccer development, but don't trust when the dorm is just 5,000 yen per month, there's a hidden fee everywhere, that is why Aoi's mother is very careful on financial support. This is on top of living in Tokyo which has very high cost of living, and moving to study in Tokyo highschool, etc. And since Aoi doesn't have time to do part time, failure is really not an option for him.

Though I don't think the club charge an expensive upfront cost, since there are many successful club members, I think the club might rely mostly on donation from club's alumni, on top of sponsor from company. And I think they might have a strict contract, like if the player get a sponsor, they've to share some of their income to the club, and also don't forget that club can sell players to other clubs. Soccer is really a money-making sports if you can get into a club system.

Another banger episode!

Aoi has already got fangirls lmao. Hana best girl though.

Most of the players on the new team seem pretty chill. Gotta know more about Benzen the bike gang boy.

Yuma seems the best out of all of them.

The coach seems kinda strict and harsh

Anyways, looking forward to the next episode!

Out of nowhere, the head coach who is in charge of the B team: "I think Aoi won't even move up to the A team and will be a failure".

Did I miss something? What happened to make such a statement? Feels like forced drama once again. And what is it about this show that people overhear such conversations about them unnoticed?

hate him ? why lol he only just stated what he thinks is the truth , and he isn't entirely wrong about ashito , he lacks alot of fundamental stuff , just because he said something against the mc doesn't automatically make him bad , don't judge stuff from the surface only , he surely has his reasons for what he said , anyway let's just hope ashito proves him wrong

Uhm, Hana was right, he was wrong. They are in the camp for a reason. Let him show what he can do before deciding he’d never go on to the senior team. .

Togashi looking like a mix of Kuwabara and young Onizuka. He's also got the biker gang to go with it. So excited to see where his storyline will go.

And about that coach, fuck that coach, the streets hate that coach. I don't care about the reasoning behind saying Aoi will never be a pro because he barely knows him and the same thing goes for all of the other new guys. What annoys me more is that there are definitely coaches like this in real life.

Not sure how 24 minutes passed by, nothing really happend. But, seems like we'll get a match in the next episode. Aoi got along with the JoJo character that got introduced very late in the episode. Hina stood up for Aoi was probably the highlight of the episode, the first fan of him? Seems like we already know he's going pro.

i think the coach is speaking from his experience as he has seen all the previous players old man fukuda has scouted before and he also mentioned in the speech that such players are the ones who lead the team, but he thinks they were all upto the mark whereas he is for the first time doubtful of old man fukuda's decision to keep our boy ashito. hopefully ashito brings up his A game and shows his true potential to the coach or become better eventually. P.s love the anime

IM LIKING THE CHARACTERS SMM. the only one we havent really "interacted" with from the main team (im guessing, by the end part of the ed) is red hair guy but he seems nice.

biker guy lolll, him being this gangster looking dude but straight up crying on his introduction was gold. and ashita EASILY befriending him😭😭 curious to see what he has against the junior whatever guys tho. what made him like that

and ahh that slicked back + 3 strands of hair dude is harsh. i can see where he's coming from tho, and im also curious on his character. i also cant wait to see this sponsor's daughter!!! i hope she wont be some love interest bullshit character tho, i just want more cool somewhat important girl charas here

It's not a forced drama. Aoi is still lacking in the technical stuff, the basic of football like passing, holding a ball, combination play, etc. So far he only relies on his vision to carry him. Only coach Fukuda can see it. The other coach think it's just a pure luck Aoi can come up with the decision he made during the last match.

We only see one moment in the game when Aoi shines, but for most part of the game Aoi often loses the ball to his opponent and keeps misplacing some passes. This is what the other coaches see.

Following the emotional send off last episode Aoi is moving into the dorms in Tokyo! Its an exciting time to see all the youth players assembling together for the first time after they've been recruited and scouted. Aoi and Otomo meeting some of the players they faced in the out of position tryouts. They all seem like a nice cast of characters, certainly looking forward to learning more about them. Especially the guy who's Aoi roommate whom also showed up late, Togashi. A former biker gang member with a pompadour haircut whom hates guys that are promoted from the youth team. The player Aoi sat next to in the assemble giving Aoi that warning about Togashi is interesting. Definitely many plot lines being setup during this episode that will bear fruit later. Excited to see this next match.

Head coach reminds me a bit of Saitou from Rurouni Kenshin, design-wise. He also seems to be a bit of an ass, given those final harsh words.

Anyways, another great episode. A new arc has just begun and it already looks quite promising. Particularly looking forward to knowing more about Togashi and his disgust towards the junior players.

Also Hana stating she's Ashito's first fan was so sweet. Definitely among this season's best girls.

Hana's a real one same with the tryout duo that made it with Ashito

this felt like one of the more slower pace episodes which if you were reading or binging this it wouldn't seem that bad but after such strong "prologue" the gears are taking the time to move again, will say im kinda shocked how heavily focused this is on their league (there's a lot of players there geez) i don't even know if we'll see any other teams in this season since the op doesn't even have any opposing team rivals like you usually see in every sports anime

Coach Nozomi is integral for Ashito's development as a player!
In a lot of other sports anime the main character always has an ability or power that makes them OP or special, but that's not the case for Aoi.
Characters like Coach Nozomi keep the story grounded and real (when you are looking to go pro, there will be people who won't believe in your ability and you gotta prove them wrong xD).

Don't know where else to post this, but this is my first time watching a Production I.G. anime and I am enjoying almost every bit of it. I feel like this is one of the most overlooked anime this season. A shame that it had to come out during a season with so many other high profile shows airing (most of which are sequels to pre-existing series). Seriously, people need to talk about this anime more.

good ep.

classic anime logic, declare that MC who is clearly ultra talented "will never make it pro in the 3 years with the youth team" yet he was the best from the try outs and doesn't say the same of the other two who also made it in.

It's obviously just a set up to have this coach warm to him and 180 his opinion on Aoi.
