Yeah. Although it’s an absolute shame we won’t be able to see their relationship develop into something deeper, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting a second season… 🥲

like all other yuri manga from this author, that have been adapted to anime, bloom into you have also not reached level of popularity he intented, so there will be no season 2 for now. author is currently focusing on citrus+, so we must wait. But please read manga, for me it had better pacing, which is quite crucial in romcom stories. The plot is same as anime, but i felt like i was reading completely different story.

You got quit confused, because it isn't the same author. Citrus is from Saburouta and Yagate Kimi ni Naru from Nio Nakatani
Everyone has a different way of enjoying anime, you aren't superior for watching some kind or other

No, that's not true.

The anime only adapts 24 chapters of the manga, and the manga has 22 chapters to the end after that. Two of those 22 chapters are double-length chapters, giving the remaining chapters a similar amount of content to 24 chapters. With the same episode count and pacing as the first season, a second season would be able to cover the remaining manga content easily.

Content isn't the reason why it hasn't happened yet. The reason is likely that series with LGBTQ+ themes struggle in Japan due to their society not being very accepting of it, unfortunately, so it wasn't successful enough for the production committee to greenlight a sequel.

But who knows? Classroom of the Elite flopped incredibly hard in Japan and it's getting continued 5 years later. Anything's possible.

The fact that you think Nakatani and the fetishising, incest-loving asshat that wrote Citrus are the same person is just insulting. Nakatani deserves the credit for the work she wrote.

I've never seen somebody so proudly show that they have no idea what they're talking about.

Why not turning it into a 8S-long shounen anime while we're at it?
People really got brainwashed into craving for the tele-novela-type of entertainment where not the story but the characters are what counts.
Wanting stories like these to continue is not because of the plot - if you would really like it and its conclusion there would be no need to call for continuation.
What you people are doing is to get engaged with the characters instead of the plot & message of the story itself, what always has lead to this kind of reaction.

In some cases that's fine - no tele-novela, not shounen series could work otherwise - that's why their plotstructure often just repeats itself without any real meaning and moral behind it. And while this is the nature of those kind of entertainment and it wouldn't work otherwise, it's also the reason we usually see it as a shallow from of storytelling.

A good drama on the other hand HAS TO follow some structural rules though - because the form of narration is in the definition of a drama itself. The word doesn't describe the content of the plot - it describes how it's delivered to the reader/viewer. So the short version here is; you simply don't continue a good drama show just because you want to see MORE about its characters - because besides very rare cases, typically you're ruining what is already there in the process. This matters less if the existing narrative isn't that good to begin with of course - but a good drama doesn't need an 'afterstory' and in most cases, it SHOULDN'T have one!

Of course taste differs, but I find it a bit sadening how modern dramatugic structures - which mostly serve the monetary aspect of a work - have watered down media perception in general. Ironically enough, most people agreeing with the sentiment that (movie) continuations usually can't reach the same level as their original narrative would ignore this knowledge completely the moment it affects a lore they're heavily invested in. And often they keep falling for this effect time and time again despite usually actually realizing it after the fact.

Let a good story end - that's how it should be!

SEASON 2 HOPIUM!

The Manga is SO well written, it really deserves the season 2.

If anyone has concerns about a season 2 deviating in quality, as long as they follow the source material, I have zero concerns.

This was shaping up to be a gold standard of shoujo-ai and I remember being so let down by the end about
It brought down my final assessment of it, unfortunately.

All things considered, it probably still is one of the brightest stars of the shoujo-ai / yuri genre, and at least the final bits with
are legitimately lovely.

While I absolutely agree with you, the Yagate Kimi ni Naru anime ended almost exactly in the middle of the actual story. I think that's why it would deserve a continuation. While the anime did a good job of masquerading the end of the series as the actual end, the story of "them" basically just begins after.

I finish the manga, and I'm pretty sure they can squeeze 12 episodes out of it, but i doubt they would do it tho 😩😭
