So I want to watch this and I need help.
Do I need to watch the original movie?
Should I watch the Netflix sequel or can I just watch s1,s2 and the movie and stop there?
Any additional information I need to know let me know

It's a stand alone (no pun intended) universe comprised of the first two seasons, the Solid State Society movie and 2045. So no, you don't need to see the 1995 film first although I do recommend it because it's a favourite of mine. With that said, you'd probably be better off not checking out 2045. I gave it a go and it's pretty bad.

The 1995 movie is seperate from this universe, though I do recommend watching it before watching SAC

The original movie and show can be watched in either order. The show will give you a better feel for the characters and the movie will give you a better feel for the world.
Solid State Society is alright, but hard to find and not really worth tracking down.
SAC 2045 is alright at best if you can get past the jank animation.
(Innocence, the sequel to the original movie, is also very good.)

Yeah I can't really add to the discussion. All I can say is that I can only recommend both movies first, cause I really liked them and they introduced me into the idea of what Ghost in the Shell is about.

Quick tip: at the end of each Stand Alone Complex episode is a small funny bit about the tachikoma that adds to the universe by showing us how they think etc. which is pretty neat.

Watch the old movie to get some sort of idea about the universe then watch sac s1 and 2
Ignore the new movie its really bad
