I get your complaint. It highly warranted.

The decision among the higher-up is soo confusing. From what I seen, people are enjoying Aria on Anitwitter.

Mito should have been a Integral Factor character instead imo

All this changes will cause even more confusion.

I don't like how Mito is the one who gave Asuna her signature hair-braid.

Reki Kawahara has tweeted explaining why the movie decided to skip vol 2 and 3. The reason being the unfinished Elf War arc, and the production committee wanted it to be completed to start adapting. This hinted a potential prequel and sequel 2-cour TV series for the grand arc (I think).

Scherzo of Deep Night is currently the volume that had got the least to do with Elf War, so they will be adapting it first, and I think it was to keep the brand name SAO renewed with new content as frequent as possible to retain community’s attention.

Also, the novel occasionally switches between Asuna and Kirito point of view in several chapters. Reki used this method to make both viewpoints more clear to the readers.

I wish it was anime series rather than Movie. By that, we wouldn't even have had content skipped and now we have to wait so long for the rest of the content.

Yeah, but he never mentioned anything regarding Rondo which is the 2nd half of Vol 1, which is why I'm confused. Skipping the elf war is fine, it doesn't really make any sense to skip Floor 2 when the elf war quest starts on f3.
And like i said, Rondo foreshadows the events of Scherzo, etc...

Tbh, probably gotta be cause of Mito.

Since I have read vol 2 awhile ago I cannot recall specifically all the details leads to the skip. There might be something that hinted the Elf War at floor 3 mentioned in floor 2 that they decided to skip floor 2 altogether. It could also be your reason as to why they decided to skip floor 2 for now and adapt it somewhere later to keep the content consistent even with the initial changes in floor 1. But I don’t think Mito is that big of a factor that could change the major events, I think at most she can only affects small details such as meet ups and stuffs.
