Lmao, our battle is just starting... and in under 19 chapters, too.

Author really needed to work harder on this: Art was alright and the initial setup was golden, but then... why waste it on a terrible exam arc and a drawnout first encounter with no stakes? Why ignore the golden hook of "hunting fairy tale monsters"?

Not to mention the baffling panelling decisions at times, like the way the double spread of the book in chapter 1 was handled via cutting it into multiple panels... He needs to go back to the drawing board and improve his non-art related skills.

Still, it is a shame: The meta narrative seeds were obviously planted at the start already and I am sure a more capable mangaka could have unfolded this mystery over the course of 20-30 volumes in a great manner. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk.

And it ended, it's a shame a manga with two thick female characters had to end. Not a bad read for 18 chapters, good luck to the author for his next work.

Looked real promising but I felt like the training arc simply dragged on for too long. 6/10

Mediocre end to a mediocre series. Can't wait to hear people complain on twitter for weeks and weeks about it being cancelled even though there was literally nothing special about it :/

Making it big in Jump ain't easy, but it always feels bad whenever a series gets axed. Hope the mangaka didn't get discouraged and learned from this experience. .

The meta direction it took in the last few chapters were certainly more interesting than anything that came before it, but I don't know if it does much to salvage this because while last chapter in particular was pretty interesting, the resolution here felt as bog standard as it could've gotten, "Our fight is only just beginning" and all. Which is understandable, I think thematic they made the right choice for what they had set-up, but it doesn't really contain much weight to it, unfortunately for the obvious reason that these revelations were rushed into the story due to it's low rankings.

Low rankings that I totally get. I probably would've dropped this series had I not expected it to get cancelled fairly soon. It was just very dry, bland shonen, the only unique characteristic about it before the last three or so chapters was the fairy tale setting, which the exam arc almost completely abandoned. It didn't get a chance to make much use out of it. On that note though, my favourite part of this chapter was the Cinderella spell on Grimm ending at midnight. All it really did was allow her to kool-aid a wall, which nice that she played a role but it was such a footnote.

Well, that's quite an end. The last few chapters were interesting for sure but that's mainly because the serie was about to be axed so he had to speed up his story. The exam arc was honestly one of the most boring arcs' I've ever read. I'm going to miss the character designs for real, espically the big chunky mama's.

Gg.

If mangaka were to continue the story like the first couple of chapters (fighting against monsters with mind games and cool action) instead of directly entering an exam arc, this manga had better chance of surviving.

I liked the manga, it's a shame it was axed. Had it not started with 5 chapters of pointless and repetitive werewolf hunting I think it would have had a better chance. Chapter 6 should have been chapter 2, or 3 at most, and maybe then the manga would have gotten a chance to survive.

I cannot wait to see what Kawaguchi does next. This series was fantastic, and honestly fuck the Japanese audience for axing it. It easily could have become one of the highlight titles in Jump. The fact that Kawaguchi managed to shift gears upon getting axed to transform the story into one critiquing Jump's itchy axe-trigger finger is nothing short of impressive. What we're left with isn't just a dead-too-soon promising series, but one that may still be worth the read despite its unfortunate fate. I can't say I really feel the same about any other axed series.

It deserved better because what we got was better than what we (or rather the Japanese audience) deserved.

So it got axed after all, man what a pity :( It had so much potential with the 2 THICC girls. Hopefully the author has more luck with a possible new work.

Man, I really wish online/international popularity had some say it stopping this series from being cancelled, hopefully in the future where even more ppl read manga outside of japan

ALSO, FUCK SJ

This series had sooooo much potential to be the next big shonen and it had such unique, meta and interesting, just because it was not completely generic and somewhat unique it didn't get popular (talking about the Japanese audience)

But it went down like a boss, meta, just like its story elements

Hopefully, Kawaguchi-sensei can come back stronger, it's kinda ironic cuz Kawaguchi-sensei worked as an assistant under Horikoshi-sensei(author of MHA, whose' first 2 series got cancelled)

An interesting end to an interesting series. Shame we didn't get more out of it, and personally, I actually enjoyed the exam arc, but I guess it is what it is. At least we got Debonair out of it.

Well, it is what it is. Definitely deserved the axe, but fine wraping of the story. Let's hope that Kawaguchi-san will learn from his mistakes and make his next work a hit.

I'm sure the whole meta ending would have been so cool if this got to run for like 15+ volumes. shame it had to go so soon, hopefully mangaka can come back with something just as good if not better.

Honestly I think it deserved the axe! It had potential for sure but it was a mess all around! I feel that he was a little to reliant on his muscle waifus to carry his series but that can't be all there is to it my friend you need more than that! I might be chatting shit honestly what do I know! 😌

I quite liked the training arc. It reminded me of TPNL Goldy Pond arc with the running around and whatnot. Not as great of a scale, but it was enjoyable. I'm really sad it ended just like that... Man... I was looking forward to it's progression for another 60+ chapters </3

I've seen series getting axed before but this 'ending'? This is the final boss, speedrun axe edition. Jump is the most competitive and Red Hood never seemed all that promising from it's beggining >_<. Sucks for the author but this wasn't all that interesting, imo at least.

This is what happens when you care more about subverting expectations than writing a good story. This has to be the most pretentious fighting shounen I have read in my life.

One thing I don't get is why there are 23 chapters here when 18 is the last one, but w/e who cares.
