| ahh me too honestly ! like i find the words(?) magic whatever that is really interesting, the family bonding moments were also cute but most of the things in this show are just .. Very average, not to mention the animation. BUT im still enjoying a big part of it so ill just focus myself on that part while watching :D |
| Pretty much How I see it, the animation is quite bad and the fight scenes are terrible, the slower episodes were not written well to keep them interesting, though I can't comment if they are following the source material properly or it's an adaption issue. As of right Now apart from the whole undead parents thing I don't find it that interesting, I'll keep watching it though just because the Prologue is done now so the story should change. |

And the gods are very central to the lore here. To me this is a great showcase why presentation (not only animation, also scene direction and music / sound design) matters. There are many series - and this is a perfect example - with a lot going for them in terms of their premise and ideas and creativity and have genuine good moments, but overall end up having such a shallow/surface-level treatment that feels either rushed or just not properly emotionally poignant in some major noticeable way and come off very lacking and underwhelming compared to what it seems obviously they definitely could otherwise be if executed differently. Imagine this series or others you find disappointing in this regard and now transplant the same plot/setting/characters/etc. into the hands of those who made some of your top favorite anime series, and it's very easy to imagine how the writing, scene direction and pacing, OST, etc. would feel so much more cohesive and consequently, immersive and enthralling. There are so many series you could easily imagine as epic in scale and impact or even approaching a masterpiece level that just turn out basically mediocre. This is not the exception. It's probably the majority, because many projects don't have the resources allocated to make that vision come to life and not every series gets put in the most deft hands, but usually the B or C team (or worse). |
| Agreeing with the sentiment. It has moments where I find it to be impressive, and others to be disappointing, whether its true its production and tone being very lacking for the kind of series this could be, or for the pacing itself of events to go along with it, which makes the series as a whole feel very shallow overall for the most part. It really depends on the direction of where the series would be going with the stuff after the prologue, if that underwhelms, this series is dead on its tracks right then in my opinion but if there is something actually interesting beyond the prologue despite the obvious issues there, I'll try and keep my eyes on it further. I'm not too optimistic though. |
