So basically from what I'm getting here Neiru was an AI created by Kotobuki in the image of actual human Airu and Airu grew so jealous of Neiru she attempted to murder Neiru and then killed herself. Neiru brings her back to life, for some reason we still don't really understand (maybe guilt for feeling like she took Airu's place without knowing??), and then gets tempted by Frill to join her so she can become "human".

Ai and Rika figure this out and then decide to abandon her because she's not human?? Am I getting that right?? Then months past, maybe even a full year idk, and now Ai is like "I need to meet her even though I abandoned her for who knows how long!"??? If that is the case from the end of this special, then wow. I genuinely thought Ai and Rika cared more about Neiru than this? It was totally out of left field for me that they wouldn't even want to do anything to save Neiru for whatever amount of time they left her alone, especially for the reason of her being a "machine". Definitely not how I expected this series to end, especially since the whole Thanatos and Eros thing wasn't even properly explained and the fact that Ai apparently wanted to be a "Warrior of Eros" but then that quickly gets dropped with little explanation as well.

I honestly thought the Frill plot was interesting and had potential, but I think they executed it pretty poorly and timed the reveal of the Frill plot much later than it should've been. If WEP gets a second season and continues off this Neiru plot I think it could be interesting as well, but personally I'm not even sure I would want Ai and them to meet up with Neiru again considering they abandoned her for an indefinite amount of time and because it seems the main driving factor for why Ai wants to see her again is because of guilt more than anything else imo.

This whole show is a mess
It had a interesting premise, but was ultimately messed up by uneducated fools and poor execution
It's like the gave up halfway through, like with a certain other show...
All opinions are valid, unless they hurt people. Or suck.

Yep, that’s what happened. Honestly it’s sort of confusing, and this show definitely isn’t getting a second season.

What I got was more like Neiru joined Frill because they both wanted to become human since they're both AI, rather than Neiru joining her *in order to* become human.
I also interpreted that while Rika firstly abandoned Neiru because, yes, she's an AI so she's not really human in Rika's eyes, but then we get to see her break down and sense that she's probably just too depressed to do anything and knows well that she would absolutely die if she goes back to fight because she actually does want to die. Ai joined her because she was too sad to (about Koito not being her friend) and was probably scared too, but later she realized Neiru was her friend anyway and decided to come back.
But all of this is my interpretation (although the first point does trace back to the "you desire the same that I do, you can be my friend" scene between Frill+Neiru so I don't think I'm just interpreting things there).

This all makes sense
So yes I would agree with you guys on the assessment of what happened here
And to be honest, I really liked the show and find that the special / final episode was par for the course. I think the complicated friendships and plots was intriguing and I think it was expectable that Ai & co. got unsettled about the truth of Neiru and parallel worlds. Her finding of Neiru’s situation coming alongside the reality that the friends they saved are like alternate reality versions is all very unsettling and it makes sense that they sort of blocked out the Wonder Egg game and put some distance from it.. at least for that time. Since it traumatized them after all, and they’re 14.

I wasn’t sure what Ai was crying about in her moms lap. Not answering Neiru’s call I suppose.

I do want another season because I want to know and see more about: Neiru, Frill, Mr. Sawaki, Himari, Koito, all of it really

Yeah, I also think she was crying because she felt guilty for not picking up Neiru's call. I'm glad to see another persons thinking "well, they're 14 and traumatized, what else would they do?" lmao. I hope there's a second season too! I liked it, with filler and all.

I honestly would like to see another season, the anime it really has a lot of potential. Cause the special tried to build towards some sort of sequel but those 23ish minutes complicated the plot but kinda expanded the lore of the world.
I hope with a better direction a second season could happen that delivers a proper ending.

i only got the meaning of dead people that came back alive are from parellel world and the real ones are dead, so they both want to die to meet them (????) And then neiru wants to be human like frill, and airu got jealous of her and killed her (???)
