I'm really confused about Eve. I've seen things saying him but also a couple saying they. And I'm not sure which is correct. Does anyone know? Is it okay for me to keep saying him?

I think there's some confusion because Eve's the only character whose VA (Hiroki Nanami) is a woman, the rest are all guys. But since it's an anime about boys bands, I just assumed he's a boy as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But generally speaking Eve's gender wasn't stated anywhere (neither anime nor the official site), so if you have any theory/idea of your own, there you go.

In the character's profile it's 'he'(on own myanimelist), so I think it's okay to keep calling him that way, the anime didn't give any confirmation of how he likes to be called

I assumed that all the characters are men because it's a boyband anime, but so far there hasn't been any that said they had a way they'd rather be called

The subs I watch the anime with reffered to both Eve and Elizabeth with they/them pronouns, if I understood correctly.
My own personal headcanon is that Eve is a transmasculine nonbinary person.

he's a dude.
if it's not addressed, then you can assume that the character's a dude.

what's he gonna do? jump out of the screen to tell you he's mad?!?!?!?

First of all, neither English subs nor how Eve refers to themselves can be used to indicate gender. Lots of Japanese indicatives (what would be he/she, him/her, or his/hers in English) are gender-neutral, and subbers translate it as they/them because they themselves aren't sure of Eve's gender; this in no way indicates that Eve officially uses they/them pronouns or is non binary. As for Eve using "boku", yeah, it is normally mainly used by men in real life, but anime and manga are full of examples of women using boku and sometimes even ore, so it can't be used as a decisive clue either.

I think that even though Eve's gender hasn't been explicitly stated, it's safe for now to assume that they are male, since it seems that in this anime all vampires are men; not only because every other vampire character in the show is male, but also because, as you may recall, when Beth tells Ange what he is, Beth says that dhampirs are half human and half vampire, born to a human mother and a vampire father; Beth doesn't say "and viceversa", or anything of the sort, which might indicate that only vampire males can exist in this universe. Ange's particular case seems to support this theory.

Elizabeth is male. If you were around for the Visual Kei era, you'll remember that most Visual Kei bands included one member that dressed in female (usually gothic victorian) dresses and acted as the "female" in music videos (most notoriously, Mana-sama).

Eve is also male. It's a little discouraging that whoever is doing the subs doesn't know what to do with him on account of his seiyuu being female. His seiyuu said she was excited to voice an ikemen, too.

That being said, they're just characters and technically none of them have established genders so you can think of any of them as whatever makes you happy. Who's gonna stop you? Be free, be happy.

Eve is a male, because his pronoun is "boku"

The only time "they" is used is by the person writing the subs, so it's not canon. As makech17 also mentioned, most visual kei bands had feminine appearances and some of them dressed up as a female (which is why Lost Eden has the same... a bit too eerily similar to all of OZ.).
Even my boy Mivavi has done it
and Yohio, although not Japanese, is visual kei and has dressed up as a female for some of his songs before.

Idk about his canon gender, but I like him/them because hes/theyre so androgynous. Ik about that visual kei crossdressing trend, I just personally wish Eve would be a nonbinary character, Id love that very much..

Neither the subtitles, nor Myanimelist character profiles are a reliable source of information to assume Eve's and Beth's gender. I am pretty sure both were intended to be male because

  • this really is a Visual Key anime, and feminine members are EXTREMELY common in visual kei
  • unfortunately, Japan has only recently come to somewhat seriously acknowledge the concept of more than two genders, there isn't much chance the creators thought this through (unless sth's mentioned in future eps)
  • gender isn't emphasized in Japanese media generally, they probably don't care much cause celebrities tend to be very feminine anyway

The reason you see both "he" and "they" as Eve's and Beth's pronouns is because there aren't any pronouns used in Japanese, so the interpretation is up to the subber/translator. Using "they" currently is just a nice precaution

Could you tell me more about which scene that state this, because I rewatch the first episode and even the second but I can't find it.
