The official website of the television anime adaptation of Kei Sazane's Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen (Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World) light novel announced on Friday that a sequel is in production.

The first season, produced by Silver Link., aired for 12 episodes in Fall 2020. Funimation streamed the anime with subtitles and English dub as it aired in Japan.

Sazane began penning the action fantasy light novel in May 2017 with illustration by Ao Nekonabe. Kadokawa published the 11th volume on May 20. A manga adaptation by okama began in May 2018 and ended on March 20. Hakusensha shipped the seventh and final volume on April 28.

Yen Press licensed the light novel and manga in English in February 2019. The seventh light novel volume will ship on October 12, while the manga's third volume shipped last October.

Synopsis
A force known as Astral power permeates throughout the world, wielded by astral mages. Fearing its destructive power, the "Empire" persecutes those who show their abilities. The tormented mages then founded the Nebulis Sovereignty to flee from their oppressors. Since then, the two nations have been in bitter conflict, the war still going strong for more than a century.

After committing the great crime of freeing an imprisoned witch, the talented knight Iska is sentenced to prison. A year later, the Empire leadership suddenly decides to set him free, with the condition that he hunts down a fearsome mage known as the "Ice Calamity Witch." Hoping to end the war, Iska agrees. Coincidentally, the Ice Calamity Witch herself, Aliceliese "Alice" Lou Nebulis XI, also wishes for peace and is willing to do everything she can to bring down the Empire.

As Iska and Alice both yearn for a crusade that will turn the world into one without struggle, woe, or pain, the strings of fate tie them ever closer together, creating a bond that goes beyond something fabricated by mere coincidence. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Ok, now I'm kinda hyped, usually this kind of work not getting a sequel is normal, now this isn't a typical case anymore, we may get even more stuff in the future.

In most cases, the MAL Average Scores don't mean anything, here is a question: were the works made before 2000 all shit?
Why are they so damn scarce in the Top 50? Think about how MAL is quite literally a filtered amount of the Anime fanbase.

Here's a timeline of the Top 15 in which you can check that, almost always, the scores are affected by the freshness, popularity and other factors that have nothing to do with quality.

What? Imagine complaining about overproduction when you are a type-moon fan, it's not even an Isekai.

Yeah and suggesting someone else without having watched a single "isekai", truly admirable.

Definitely an unexpected sequel, still I am glad this happened.
I am a useless student of society.
Tests are my body and Grades are my blood.
I have done over a thousand assignments.
Unseen by teachers,
nor done properly.
Yet, those hands shall never hold an outstanding grade.
So, as I pray...
Unlimited Homeworks.

Calling something the completely wrong genre is not a figure of speech, it's just wrong.
Take the L and move on.

I'm starting to think that the lack of a sequel to a new show is something of a "you shit" label these days.

Kinda true, the work just dies and that's it. I really don't like how anime as general is looking today.

A show that sold just 746 BD v1, sequel is quite surprising.
Still a decent laidback battle romance.

Really surprised. Also would like to remind people spamming "Isekai" that this is just a fantasy series and does not have reincarnation/summoning or anything of the sort. Just a mediocre fantasy.

I mean, that's better than most anime in today's standards.

I'm really glad this is getting a second season!! Maybe I'm missing something, but the only thing that bothered me with this particular anime is the single 'hair strand' sticking out from their heads. Ok and maybe a little more of a backstory with the MC's swords he got from Crossweil.

This is a shitty Isekai version of Romeo and Juliet, DK why this got a sequel when the BD sales aren't that good. But it is to continue the story, so I'll leave my arguments at that.

Looking forward regardless.

I really get angry when I see shitty shows like these getting a sequel when there are so many other good shows which are just left untouched after just one season. I am actually pretty surprised to see this getting a sequel coz the anime was literal shit.
