Found this on YouTube going into how the game is played which should provide some insight as to how the battles may play out in the anime.

Curious to know everyone's thoughts. I like that any card can be used as mana and that you start the game with two automatically. Hated getting mana screwed in Magic.

I like the rules. They give a very telegenic feel which equates to the game looking good in an anime. The problem with most card games is that they skip turns because nothing happens or there's too much buildup and go straight to the ace being played. With this game you already start with mana and can do stuff from the first turn. There's also counterplay so you can have big dramatic moments where the protagonist counters the opponent or vice versa. Clearly the rules of this game were made with an accompanying anime in mind and it seems well thought out.

Sounds like MTG with a hint of Yu-Gi-Oh and WiXoss. Quite interesting really.

I think the starting energy and no-wait-to-attack is a good idea, to let the game start as soon as possible, which would certainly help it as a show, no need to waste a few minutes building up. It also very much feels like it wants most if not all actions to be double-edged swords, what with the Buster triggers harming yourself and dropping your opponent's life below 5 giving them additional options. Also quite interested in how the Territory function will appear in the show, I imagine changing the entire surroundings.

Not sure how the game would play, I'd have to watch a whole match for that, but it seems decent enough as an ATCG.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

Great replies! You both bring up great points.

Regarding counter play, as much as I love playing Vanguard, it doesn't usually make for interesting back in forth in battles in the anime IMO. Guard or no guard. Trigger or no trigger (but let's be real, they always hit the trigger).

Also I love the life below 5 thing too. Idk if you guys are familiar with Blooodcraft in Shadowverse but they have a mechanic called Vengeance and I really liked that and now in this game every class gets that essentially.
