I understand where you're coming from, I felt the exact same when I was reading it at first but watching the anime and seeing everything that built up to it made me a lot less mad, I don't know why maybe it's just a story that's better the 2nd time around, at least that's how it was for me

Well she was the girl that met him as a child in Tokyo (i think) on the school Trip.
Shes been in love with him from the start of the Series afaik but doesnt show it bc she doesnt want to be selfish and wants to support the others , despite that shes still in love with him with leads to her kissing him at the bell. He couldnt recognize the Quint who kissed him , noone receives a backlash and she can somewhat express her feelings for him without betraying her sisters (kinda) . Atleast thats the explanation i came up with at that moment , its been some time since i read the Manga (still angry that yotsuba won at the end)

she was the first to meet him the first to confess also altough she said she was lying. Cam you imagine loving someone for as long as she did and holding back those feels? Alot of people shit on her and ichika for no reason. People like miku cuz is shown being cute, nino for her firey personality and itsuki for being mostly neutral.

they couldn’t do anything about it they skipped after all and i’m a major itsuki fan but i don’t think she should win since she dosent look at futaro the way her sisters do even though they have the chemistry i read the manga and the anime will probably have an anime original ending i’m rooting for nino

I felt the same when i first read it. But after spending time thinking it over and with what happens in between end of season 2 and end of manga, she gets enough character development for it to make sense and be still decent endig

You should just read the manga it makes all sense. If you are an anime watcher i raccomand you to starts where season 2 starts because they cutted a lot of things.

Yeah, I also recommend continuing to read the manga where the anime currently left off. It provides a lot of context and backstory that Yotsuba barely got up to the end of season 2.
While there is still a lot of discussion regarding the ending and who it should've been the bride, in my particular case while I was rooting for Miko up that part, afterwards it became very hard to wish for anyone other than Yotsuba. In fact, rewatching the anime having that has been making for somewhat of a different story, right from the first episode.

I’m assuming you’ve only watched the show and you haven’t read the manga, she actually has a lot of development in the series.
Yotsuba is best girl and the main reason she kissed him was if you were paying attention in the show the scene where she’s with ichika on the roof reflecting on the past how she never grew up, she tells ichika to not hold back anymore but as she tells her that she also realizes that she won’t hold back either.
Yotsuba was also the first to confess to him in season one episode 8 even though she was “joking” we find out earlier in the episode that yotsuba is a bad lair telling Nino and Itsuki not to go out for lunch but to stay and help Fuutarou from his terrible "sickness". Then moments after she says she’s likes him but she wasn’t lying, we also see in episode 4 of season one yotsuba says how cute Raiha is and that if she marries Fuutarou she could be sisters with her.
so there’s a lot of stuff you weren’t paying attention to even without reading the manga there’s a lot of hints that Yotsuba likes him but everyone chooses to say she doesn’t have any development.
I encourage you to read the manga to get a better understanding of Best Girl Goatsuba.

Thank you for making that point about Yotsuba being the one to fall in love with him, because she was Rena, if you remember, from five years prior to the series. so actually, this fits the whole childhood friend cliché, or something like that.

And I only saw the anime, so when I learned that it wasn’t actually Itsuki, but actually Yotsuba, I was a bit surprised to say the least. But after seeing your post, it definitely makes sense now. I mean, I didn’t want her to be the one to end up with him, but like I said, it does make sense considering the whole childhood friend cliché.

Very good point on Nino, and I’m glad that you pointed that out. Well I’m also mad at Ichika for lying, and trying to screw over her sisters like that, I’m even more mad at Nino, for being so hostile towards Futaro. And yeah, drugging him too, another very good point.

they are all teens and in love so her lying to try and get ahead its what some people do cant really hold a grudge on her. Besides she gets better in season 2 if i recall correctly. Nino's still the same i believe the difference is that she loves the mc i guess. Nino/miku get the most attetion cuz they have the cute/tsudere personalitys plus they get more screen time with futaro i think.

Hello:

After watching the 2 seasons, reading the manga and watching the movie, I trully believe that Yotsuba is the right one.

Nobody talks about it, but she was the first girl to confess to Fuutarou Kun (almost kiss him) in the Nakano appartment. She was his soulmate in the Courage Route (she wears the lovely mommy custom), and altough not very noticeable, she is always helping Futarrou Kun. enthusiastically.

The thing that she is so bold to kiss Fuutarou under the bell is something that she expect not to develop beyond that, she just wanted to take advantage of the moment and that she was dress like any other of her sisters.

I am sure that she remembers him from her trip to Kyoto and in some way she feels guilty that he evolves so much and she couldn't keep her promise. I thing that is why she acted like she don't deserve the guy. And on top of that, she loves her sisters, so both feelings direct her to step bak on her quest to conqueer the guy.

I can't lie here. I would liked Nino to end up with Fuutarou Kun. She is the best girl, she is the one that he touches the most. But that is not what is valuable for Fuutarou, he is in love with the little girl she met in Kyoto, that is his first love. Yotsuba is the best girl all along the series, without making a lot of noise.

I am glad how the series ended.

Hope the next project from Gotoubun will be as sucessful as their previous ones.

Firstly, the story was going in the unrealistic route in the first place, then we got something that we could cling to. Then we found that each character was so freakingly awesome that we couldn't actually come to hate anyone for even pulling tricks. We were like this guy won't choose or like make a way that every character would have their romance be fulfilled. The pace was cool and everything felt so wholesome. We started liking Miku, Nino, Ichika, Ishiki, and Yotsuba, some more than the others but then boom the end-of-season movie/manga was released. It was going so well, and it ended with something unusual, I mean yeah, Yotsuba is good but that doesn't mean the story was completed. There is still something missing, I know I am being childish for wanting a happy ending. But you know we need an ending that makes us feel at least complete. The ending seems so empty, the whole buildup, and the story was so good but the ending f**ked it up! Tbh I didn't see the new specials for that reason, whatever we watch the ending will still be empty, the journey feels good only when we reach a good destination, or else it even spoils the journey as well.
