Another chinese animation added to Netflix from next week, will be interesting to see how it is translated assuming Netflix has their own team.

Wonder if it will get dubs too.

Thats said I am surprised Kings Avatar the animation not being on netflix, considering it is one of the more successful shows, not to mention Demonic Culitivator aswell.

While I enjoyed this show, I won't say it was as amazing as the other two mentioned. That said Kings avatar live action drama is on Netflix so may, just maybe we will see.

I also want a Cantonese dub of all these shows at one point hopefully it will happen.

Where'd you see the Netflix news? Can't seem to find it with a Google search. Been looking for another good donghua to watch after The King's Avatar.

The action is actually not bad, I was worried about it at the start but overall its not bad. Its a mix of Live action for real life stuff and Realistic CG for the game. The only downside is the game is not like the anime, which takes getting used to at first, but its still enjoyable.

thanks for that date, but i can't afford Netflix. :) i've watched 15 of the 16 episodes of 'ImmortalKing' done by the fansub group Guodong Subs using 'various sites'. i just wish their Channel hadn't been gutted by YouTube. they did stupendous work fansubbing various donghua. they're the only reason i ever knew about 'ImmortalKing' because i was just dumb lucky enough to find the show and their YouTube Channel sometime in 2020.

is NF going to do their normal 'release the whole thing at once' like they normally do with a multi-episode series? or will it be released in smaller pieces?

oh its all g then. the 16th ep was kinda unnecessary anyway. The ending in general was just really confusing in several ways, so hopefully when s2 comes out they give us a recap/explanation and catch us up on wtf happened lol.

If you do want to watch it, it is available for free on dailymotion.com. If you just look that website up and enter the animes name with the "ep 16" you will find it. The ep is exactly the same up until the 15 minute mark where it is very very slightly different if you wanted to skip and watch from there since its the same as the 10th episode.

And yeah NF releases things as a whole, they havent had one show that has been gradually released weekly. They just dump the whole season on us lol.

mhm, it has been a while since NF put a few bits and pieces of a 'season' up at a time. i guess their classic 'Nexflix and chill' idea really works when there's a whole crap-ton of episodes to binge on. :D

yeah i found those 15 Guodong ones on dailymotion via a user by the handle of tiffany-muldowney. the 12th episode (i think) was the only one that user had that wasn't a Guodong one, but that fansub was decent.

mhm! nod nod! i CERTAINLY remember that 16th one 'joke episode'... the old bad-guy chauffeur scene on the roof was the only part of it different than... gahhh episode 10? lolol yeah :D :D :D i still laughed a little at that one for the tiny tiny change.

mhm!!! that season's ending was obtuse as hell! alternate worlds and rewinding time and suchforth to 'save the girl', just to go back to 'hoh hum, blase, blank-face' version of himself after all that ooey-gooey lovey-dovey parts.

although the 'giant hand-slap' into the ground for the 'bad girl' during the tournaments' 'rewound time' was damn funny! like, 'dah dah dahhh dummm!' dramatic moment and the reveal and 'SLAP!' easy peasy, chicken greasy, over and done with. :D ahaha :D

i hope Netflix keeps the 'giant demon frog' jokes around the kids' BackGroundMusic :D when the kid goes for his 'class rank test'... i laughed SOOOO hard at those jokes!

but how are they going to handle the light novel author's joke for that 'class rank test'? if i remember that joke's explanation properly, that actually is an artist's rendition of what the source light-novel author looks like. somebody even told me he did his own voice acting for the show in that scene too. :>

Fr was super confusing, hopefully the next season makes it easy to understand but keeps the humor, because I actually laughed quite a bit watching it lol.

how's your experience with donghua using 'chi-cultivation' and 'martial arts'? me, i've got like... not even five? well if you count some yokai shows that use those two genre a smidge i'd have to count it at five.

because except for the 'pop culture' jokes... like the four kids sitting in the headmaster's office on a square sectional couch, and they're tweeting and texting their asses off to each-other... and there's a huge assassination plot going on all around them? heh!
well... most of the jokes other than those ^ are cultivation and martial arts genre jokes. i think. :) but like i said my experience in those genres are limited.

out of the ones I've watched? Pretty good. If I start something and don't like I'll just instantly drop it, but surprisingly out of like the 24 or smthn like that I've seen, there actually pretty good. I don't know why people tend to avoid them just because it isn't "Japanese". The humor in them tends to be really unique too and is actually a nice change. Especially with how random their humor can be lol.

The plots are also different so I am currently enjoying it since it isn't just the basic reused concepts for a lot of Japanese anime. (Not all of them ofc tho).

for me the first problem with donghua is, fanslations. they're generally horrid.

second problem is, 'The Great Firewall of China' blocking so many shows from making out of China easily. like within a few days of being broadcast.

third problem is, lack of a TV schedule setting a concrete 'the project will be finished by this date or else.' since the Chinese stream online so much of what everybody else in the world considers TV/cable/satellite content they don't have to have a hard deadline for completion of a show. a few weeks can pass, a month, several months, and the Chinese just don't care.

if there aren't TV stations selling advertising time making the network etc. set up 'show A runs from 4p-430p, show B runs from 430p-530p etc.' when the donghua that was supposed to be 'show B' doesn't get delivered to the networks on time... SOMETHING else has to run in that timeslot. contracts are violated, penalty fees are paid, entire seasons of donghua are canceled, all the huge profits of rebroadcasting a show go poof, maybe nobody's going to buy the DVD/BR disks, and so on. without a concrete TV schedule you can't force efficiency policies on the creatives... they'll just blow their bosses off and keep forcing release date pushbacks, error rates increase because a lackadaisical attitude sets in 'oh we'll finish it eventually and fix all the errors someday'.

i think that 'oh well it is good enough' feeling pervades some donghua i've watched. the work just looks shoddy to me. i KNOW the industry in China is ONLY 15 years old or so! therefore finding talented kids who've gone to art and animation and film school is hard! i watched one... last week? maybe 2 weeks ago... 'Feng Ling Yu Xiu' damn thing was funded ENTIRELY by kickstarter and other crowdfunding efforts. the earliest episodes looked... just ok... the storytelling was interesting so i stuck with it. but there was almost a YEAR between the earliest episodes and the finale. it just took so long i entirely forgot about the show till i accidentally came across it again on 'the site' i use for anime. they'd updated their files on the show and it popped up on 'new and recent shows' list for the site. the later episodes the quality went way up, but it still was to me passably slightly above Japanese anime standard/middle of the road/just ok shows.

there was another one.... 2 season long donghua i watched... what was it's name... aha took me forever to find it on MyList here 'Yaoguai Mingdan' watch it if you haven't! stupendous work! the files i watched on 'the site' i used even included some after episode extras like interviews with the director and producer who were both the writers also. just a couple of guys fresh out of 'technical school for film' they called it. they even admitted in the interviews that they basically plagiarized every yokai show or book they'd ever read to write their first season. i guess they were just... well whatever the Chinese call otaku. :> the first 3 episodes seriously really LOOKED like a fan fiction film done by a couple of film school grads. but Tencent and bilibili and Haoliners still picked up their efforts and created a real show. the two guys seriously ramped up their game when they 'joined up with the pros' as those 2 guys put it. :D the thing was with season1 with 18 episodes the project was released in December 2014 and they didn't FINISH till September 2015! in the 2nd season extras also included in the files i watched those 2 guys apologized again and again for all the season1 delays. they apparently got stuck doing SO MUCH of the early work for season1 themselves! they both were doing key animation cells over and over again because they were understaffed and weren't given the personnel they were promised by 'their backers'. so they got burned out and both got writer's block trying to write season 2. they weren't able to release that till August of 2017 and it finished in December 2017 with TWENTY ONE episodes this time! seriously, those two guys kicked ass and wrote up some really cool scripts and the slightly amateur look to the show evolved well over time.

Netflix kinda messed up the order, they put episode 16 as episode 10 and there is no version of the original ep 10.
