Welp, this is truly what I've feared: skipping the entirety of Part 1 (Ankokuden) and jumping straight into Part 2 (Shitouden) of the Cestvs manga.

Skipping to the tail-end of the Ankokuden manga (Chapter 153 & 154, the Outerlude), it's back to being slaves for the worse part, ruining bodies and the desperation for more gladiator-style boxing from Zafar. The way of the pickaxe for training, it's straining hard work to the limit. The presence of tournament commissioners from the Roman Empire for the war to be held in 3 months in Syracuse, Sicily, it's an imperial order that Cestvs may be itching to get back to boxing, but it's also a trip to be taken advantage of by the new Emperor Nero. Regardless, training at a fast pace is hope to be free from slavery and able to fight again.

The 2nd half going straight into the Shitouden manga sequel for continuation, the qualifiers like a small locked cage arena. Winners reign supreme, whole losers pay with their body damages and entry fees in a winner-takes-all betting wager, even if back in the day it's pretty orthodox to do so.

Cestvs vs. Zain for a pathetic start, and the situation is much worse than in the arena between Cestvs and Emden. This is no time to be messing around, it's time to get serious and climb to the top with fight after fight of strategies.

Place your bets for winners, this'll be a fast one.

Cestvs is back on his slavery jobs like digging for the roads and man it is brutal to see those hands. Poor guys can't even eat with those hands.

Cestvs is about to enter a tournament by Emperor's orders, he's going for the qualifiers. He may be confident in his abilities but he's nervous down to his spine like any other young boy would.

That qualifier didn't last long. His opponent was down before he even got a chance to hit him back. But, Cestvs isn't impressed by that. He's feeling hungry where he gets a competition and where he got injured. That's how he'll feel that he has won something from this fight. a true mark of a warrior.

It's too soon to say anything, Cestvs is going to meet a lot of different fighters and see new moves in the upcoming qualifiers, so he better be ready for that.

Cestvs is growing too fast! Isn't shotacon supposed to be the selling point of this anime?

Anyway, I think Cestvs is addicted to fighting now, his ticket to freedom is just an excuse. He'll keep fighting until he can't.

But I can't wait for Ruddock's fight. I'm analyzing him to judge if he's worth my sexual support.

looks like in the future fights, Cestvs's pride will get the best out of him! that's definitely NOT a good sign!
5/5.

Cestvs really got stronger after a few previous fights but this is already a good thing, it’s good that Cestvs will gain his freedom if he wins the fights.

I like the inclusion of historical details like that smaller arena, nice touch

but anywho cest seems like he's about to become ultimate edge lord with all this strength he's acquiring lolol. Looks like the next main rival dude has been introduced as well

I don't know if I'm just forgetting details or something... but this episode, when Cestvs found out he was invited to fight in the tournament on the Emperor's recommendation, it seemed like he didn't like Nero and wanted to stay away from him. But I thought him and Nero were in friendly terms (I guess?) back in the first few episodes before he went to that city and fought Emden.

Am I just forgetting things? Or is there pacing issues or something?

Cestvs really lives for the fight. Learned something new here with the wooden arena where things seem even more brutal and sketchy than normal stone arena's.
