Pretty dull episode this week...you could easily see the obvious cues that revealed the simple murder plot and the murderer a mile away.

The only thing I didn't get was...why the heck would the daughter apply for a job at the company that victimized her family resulting in her father's suicide? That just boggles my mind. Was she planning on committing the murder and someone beat her to the punch? Or was the job market in her area just so crappy that she could only find an opening position for work there? Or maybe the pay was highest there. Or her job skills on her resume wasn't good enough to apply anywhere else... At any rate, I'm way overthinking this non-important issue.

I thought it was the chef at first but yeah the dropping of the glass was the big cue this time.

How many hundreds of episodes have we had where the criminals try to use Mori as their alibi? It never works folks.

Nowadays most daily cases have bad motives no one can have 1k of those good ones

"Who poisoned the victim?", huh? Took them long enough to ask themselves this very simple, and also very routine detective question.

Joke aside, the title for this weak filler episode says it all really. Calling it a "been there, done that" kind of episode would be an insult to the detective genre as a whole.
No, this case mostly felt like a pastiche of the show in general. All the "cliché boxes" were ticked: suspects bearing a grudge against the victim? Check; waitress masking her true identity - coming from a family who suffered from the victim's devilish schemes? Check (a plot point that by the way led absolutely nowhere); trick involving the murderer pretending to help the victim? I mean, what do you think? Of course it was also "checked". The episode was truly a list of all the tropes the show is known for.

Obviously, I am not against the idea of 'Detective Conan' reusing all the common elements of the detective genre. It goes without saying that you cannot be always original with a series of more than 1,000 episodes. You simply cannot.
The thing is, this did not seem like a 'Detective Conan' case. No, that was closer to a 'Hayate the Combat Butler' or a 'Gintama' narrative mocking detective animes - a parody of sorts if you will. Which would be fine if the episode in question was funny. It was not - on the contrary, that was your 'run-of-the-mill' Detective Conan, taking itself way too seriously as always.

Man that filler killer was cold hearted. If he wanted the company so bad he could've waited. Didn't know they switched places till after the fact. Thought it would end up as if it was all an act to seek out anyone with ill will towards the son.

On another note, who the heck gives water to a person who seems like they have just been poisoned or choking?

The latter could've been solved another way if that was the case.

Notice: I read most manga in Japanese now so I'm not sure where you can read in English. Sorry in advance.

This case doesn't take much thinking, if any, to solve; you basically do it as it happens. This means that the first half of the episode is spent on setting up the cliché characters and their dynamics, and the second is waiting for Conan to expose a foregone conclusion.

Yeah they never show someone giving a poison victim a drink so that was an enormous red flag. Despite this, for some reason I kinda liked this one. Giant mustache Kogoro is a sigh to behold lol.
